I can't imagine the number being that high. That would put the RWHP around 397.8 with 15% drivetrain loss. I'm going to have to call shens. I predict the new motor will put down between 335 and 350whp.

If that turns out to be true.....WOW.
Equally of note is how that thread went almost immediately from those staggering projected hp numbers to the same old IRS v. SRA debate, than to "it will be too expensive." It is like every conversation is the same.
Come on LAAS -- we need the speculation to end!

They also didn't say if it had all the pumps, AC and other things on there. Agree with Boomer about the tune as well. We don't know, but I would say that 425 isn't an insane guess, just optimistic. I am optimistic. Hopefully we all will know in a month what the hp/tq numbers will be and we can all start debating 0-60, 1/4 mile, 60-0, cornering Gs, price, mpg, tuning capabilities, and more.

That would be great if it came with 425 to match the Camaro and really kick its butt. Who says the R/T will not get the 425hp 6.1 if the SRT will get the 6.4. We need to keep things even here. This may not be the best looking Mustang but could be the best performing one to date.
Plus its tough driving around a mean sounding V8 and getting beat by 09 Cobalt SS's.

DarkCandy hit the nail on the head. If the 6.4 goes in the SRT, then the 5.0 must be high hp too. I think that the number posted by Fred at evolution is not far fetched whatsoever, considering what looms in the competitors' sleeves.

Mustang does not need 425 HP to trounce a 425 HP Challenger. With the weight difference the car could make 375ish HP and still be a better performer.

That post lacks so much credibility. There has been a TON of information leaked on this motor by the Ford Engineers on PURPOSE to create a buzz. If it were being advertised at almost 70HP less, does that sound like a smart idea? I don't want to hear that "they're under-rating for insurance, etc." bull either. Sounds to me like someone just wants to look as though they have insider information... just saying. And the comments he made on color to sound even more "high and mighty", we saw that stuff months ago: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...rs-2011-a.html Thanks Five Oh Brian!

Not sure how it lacks credability anymore than any other post, I found it to be pretty accurate to just be pulled out of thin air however please post any solid info you have direct from ford engineers though.
Anyways, I also noticed them discussing that there was a rumor about getting the bore and stroke closer to being equal, which would also be good news. Anyways it's getting closer and closer to the day we all find out for sure and I know i can't wait.
