2011 5.0 on 2 Guys Garage
I saw it all. They had a great introduction to the top end of the 5.0, and removed these parts (from chain cover, intake plenum, etc) form a 5.0 engine on a stand in their studio.
There as also a nice treatise on the Cam Torque-Actuated cam phasers, complete with a graphic (no doubt form Ford) showing lift versus crank angle for various rpm, showing how valve overlap is continually optimized across the entire rev range.
To close out the episode, they installed a new cat-back Magnaflow 3" stainless pipe system on their test car, complete with sweet X-pipe assembly. As they installed the new pieces, they showed how they were all superior to the stock components, making me re-think my plan to just install an axle-back system on my 5.0. At the end they revved and took off dwn the road, and it sounded very good!
