The reason that the leftovers don't get sold is because the owner isn't paying attention. The sales manager is paid on the overall profit of the department. If he takes a huge hit on a leftover it costs him money in his pay. It is usually easier and more profitable for them personally to ignore them and let them sit. Eventually someone will notice, usually that managers replacement, and then it gets sold.

Those older ones are almost certainly Roush Mustangs. I remember at my local dealer last year seeing five or six in the dealership and on the lot. Still had the Roush MSRP stickers in the windows, nothing about deals or offers, etc. Right next to it would be a GT500 for the same price as a Roush with wheels, badges, seats, and Jack's scribble on everything. Great strategy.

We're down to 7 new '10 Mustangs (We had about 25 of them 2 months ago). 1 V6 Pony and 6 GT's - all priced below the factory invoice total to clear them out. We've been selling 1 or 2 per week fairly consistently. We have no new '09 or older models of anything. Just 2010's and some 2011 Super Duties. It pays to have fair pricing all year to not be stuck with leftovers. Too bad other dealers don't get it.

I'm almost afraid to start the negotiating process because the timing may not be right despite the price (new baby, out of work wife who hates a Mustang...), and I wouldn't be able to resist the right deal.

What's the total discount? I've seen a couple 2010 Premium GTs around here with an average discount price of $28,500 - how much better do you *think* they would go? That price likely includes the $2500 rebate - any chance of combining with 0%?

Also Apple Ford in Maryland has a few good prices on their web site, you can find then on the internet
Around here (Massachusetts) the discounts are around $5K off sticker right now, that is grand total discount including the rebates. No you cannot get the 0% financing with the rebate, it is one or the other. Here the rebate is $2,500, so half of the $5K off sticker is rebate and half is dealer discount; if I want to get the 0% financing I have to add back the $2,500 rebate.
I am holding out for them to go a little lower . . . Ford will release new incentives on June 1, but we don't know if they will be any better than current incentives . . . if you wait until even later in the year they might get even better, if there are any left . . . and in the mean time you can act responsibly

I just noticed a brand new 2009 GT on a lot in Maine . . . they are holding out for $28K+ and won't take a dime less . . . they say they have a minimum cost, and the rebates no longer apply . . . I told them I can buy a 2010 for less, but they won't budge . . . I told them that when they still have it in the fall, if I am still looking for a car, maybe we'll talk again.

some dealers are just big dicks. always will be. there is a used gt vert that i look at saterday. that i will prob pass on just becaue the salesman was such a idiot. and i did not feel like the head games.

I offered 26k plus TTL with the 0% for 60 on two different 2010 GT deluxe and I do not think they are going to take it. Best offer from them is $27608.00 with 0%/60.

Yes but those prices include the $2500 rebate I am taking the 0% instead. At this point I think I will just order a 2011 though.
