Well 1977 was the year the Z-28 came back from a two year hiatus, and I think the Camaro got a mild refresh in 78 as well. 1983 was right after the re-design and the some of the first 5.0 H.O. five speeds were released late in the year, and 84 was the first full year of 5.0 H.O. production. 1985 was the introduction of the IROC-Z with the Tuned Port Injection motor. 1991 was also a year of a mild refresh for the Camaro I believe, so those probably help account for the higher sales in those years.

Actually the Camaro came out a year earlier in 1993. I'm Stunned that the 93' Camaro didn't outsell the 93' Mustang that year. don't get me wrong I love the fox cars especially 87-93 but, the 93' Camaro looked about 10 years newer than the Mustang that year.

I would have figured with an all new Camaro with a lot more power I think 270HP compared to 215HP, new body vs old Mustang, those holding out for the then "new" 94' model... I have a feeling 93' was a short production run for the Camaro, perhaps it was released late in the model year because 94' sales spiked right up there with the Mustang in 94'
