The 5.0 badge in your avatar better be on the back of it...lol. That would be nice of them to at least offer the 5.0 in a SE model such as a Mach 1 for 2010. They wouldn't have to mass produce it for 1000-2500 cars and it would help test/perfect it in the real world for when the 2011 GT gets it. But then again Mach 1 owners would probably not be happy with that idea (2011 GT's matching the Mach's power). Heck just give the Mach 1 425hp and the 2011 GT 400hp.

That would be perfect for the GT --> GT500 gap.

210HP --> 315HP --> 425HP --> 540HP

Yep, looks good to me!!

The hood scoop looks good on the factory hood.

Hmmm... that sounds pretty plausible. SE with new 5.0 before the masses get it..

Just to get everyone's attention- maybe that is the big reveal coming in January. They mentioned this on the Speed Channel reveal. Although I think it's most likely the GT500.

Think About It... What If Ford is Going To Debut The New Higher Output (More Horsepower than the Current 4.6 GT) 302 Motor in a New 2010 Special Edition (aka: Boss 302).

Just Think About All The Hype That A New Special Edition, Reviving the Fabled Boss 302 Model Would Generate On Top of The All New Bodystyle. Along With Uprated Horsepower for the 4.6 Liter GT.

That Would Give Ford Some Time to Refine The New 302 In A Limited Production Model The Way They Improved the Performance of the 4.6 In The Bullitt.

Then They Could Add the 302 Engine as An Option for the 2011 or 2012 Model Year GT.

Sounds Like A Smart Move In My Book! But Again This Is Just Pure Speculation On My Part....

I think it would be pretty rare to offer an SE during the 1st production year of a new model- the model itself is suppose to be strong enough to attract sales. The SE's come later on when sales start to drop off.

I'm also thinking that there will be some sort of SE in 2010 with the 5.0. for the reasons mentioned in this thread - also really nothing to lose by getting it out there. Given the 05-09 record, the SE's will be coming out like popcorn.

I must just be missing it, but what about this car indicates it could be a Mach 1? The shaker scoop?

Who cares if would make Mach1 owners unhappy. Isn't the 10; Mustang GT' basically a mass produced 08-09 Bullitt with different sheet metal? How about when Ford made the 00' Cobra R only to be followed up by the 03-04 Cobras that basically matched it's performance for half the price. If you go even further back the 99-04 GT was just as quick as the 96-98 Cobra!

Yeah, I thought the same thing right after I posted...lol.

I know I sure wouldn't care. But I know it won't happen, just dreaming!

that is not the mach 1. I asked about it at the LA Show press days, that is an option from Ford Racing that you can order your with. they made it a point to be clear that it is not an SE and there is not one currently in the works...that second part could be a lie but he seemed to be telling the truth. So I suspect that the Jan unveil will be the GT500.

I agree, with a new car I'm actually surprised to even get a GT500 this year! I figured it would be just V6/ GT in 10' get the GT500 in 11' and then maybe a Mach1/Boss in 12'. I thinking that the SE cars will roll out into production by 12' or maybe sooner if sales are bad.

That's because it's already a done deal. I'm sure the next SE is Locked In.

Hell at this stage in the game I'm sure they're well on their way to locking in the 2014's design. Usually by the time they introduce a new model, they have to be done with the next generation to have time to engineer it and get it ready to go to market.

I don't think the GT500 would be much of a reveal - we know it's coming and we've already seen it in numerous spy photos. I would guess some other SE...BOSS or Mach 1 most likely.

Of course, you could have said the same about all the spy shots we saw of the '10 GT... Look what attention that reveal got. At least this means that I should be able to sit in a '10 at the Detroit show in January.

That pic is from the LA Auto show

That car is at the LA Auto show. It basically a 2010 GT with a bunch of FRPP stuff on it. Exhaust, Suspension, Shaker. While there I asked about special edition 2010 and 2011 questions on the 5.0. Nobody's talking or nobody there knew what I was talking about. I think it's the latter.
