From the jalopnik article.
"It will, of course, be covering a variety of engines, including a new 5.0-liter V8, the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost and maybe even a turbo four-cylinder. "
Wow, how is it possible to get so many smacktards to repsond in one thread (5.0-liter V8 link)

I forgot about that old description of the concept. It didn;t make too much sense at the time, but it's looking like it was pretty accurate after all.

It seems to me the hip has been created not by raising a portion of the rear quarter, but rather the opposite, by lowering the hood and window line a bit. The raised hood is necessary to give engine clearance after the edges have been lowered I guess.

Also, I don't really see how the supposed wraparound tail lights are going to work. From what can be seen so far they seem to be roughly the same size and shape as the current ones, just with clear partitions. Maybe they have since changed them.

Everything else seems to match the description though.

I am officially over my apprehension, and believe it's gonna be badass!

I love the conclusion Clino

And I agree about the rear lights. Like you said I don't think they'll wrap around, and will look just like the current ones except with the clear partitions.

Not quite...
They do have a slightly different shape to them and looks like they angle up towards the outside of the car. (this was from sketches we've seen)

There are six vehicles you can see on the road ( US and Euro ) which I worked on, some for sale, some out of production...other than that, I'll keep my identity to myself... the design community is very tight, everybody knows each other....so jumping on my back for correcting your mistake is not a great way to make friends if you do have a trans or product degree and ever send a book out.

Jumping on your back?

Out of your 60 posts here on The Mustang Source seems that you've been jumping on my back with your comments. Don't worry about my Book, it's in the right hands at the right places.

"The designers do alot more than draw pretty pictures..."

"you need more than Photoshop skills to be a car designer."

"Don't worry Jimp. Topnotch is smoking some wacky tabacky"

Look, I'm not looking for a forum fist-fight. All of my statements are true. The only people's back I was jumping on were those equating re-touching pictures in Photoshop to being a designer. In fact, I remember saying " no disrespect to TopNotch. " You edited that out.

I hope your book works out. Its a tough market out there, no one is hiring, even the best are turned down, and know it'll take a lot more than re-touched photos to be on a car design team.

Funny you don't want a Forum Fist Fight but still seem to be throwing punches.

My work, like your own, can be seen driving around
plus some design patents are pending.

I'll end this stupid back and forth chat by saying...
Good Luck to you and all your future endeavors.
Keep contributing to these forums respectfully.

You mean the sketches that were done over the camouflaged spy pics?

Nice looking hood! What sucks about wondering if you'll trade in your current Mustang for a 2010 model is whether or not you should still mod your current ride because you'll lose money in it when trading/selling the car or should you just save your money and stop modding and wait for the 2010 model to come out. I'd hate to put all this money into modding my car and find out later that I really like the 2010 model. Decisions, decisions...

I've decided to keep modding. F*** it! I'll worry about the new Stang later. Besides I'll wait till at least the fall of 2010 to order a 2011. So I've got 2 more years of fun at least. 2 years is a LONG time.

Can't we just all get along? I do have to say gnat-sum is correct about the term cowl. It's not a Chevy term. He's also correct about cowl induction hood.

I ran through the posts, didn't seem he was being disrespectful at all, in fact, he ( or she I guess ) has given very detailed and helpful descriptions regarding how cars are produced, paint colors, assembly sequence etc etc. And yes, design is much more than Photoshop. TN, looks like your "You so smart" comment ticked him off.

Good luck to both of you, however. It seems you are both very passionate and just had a misunderstanding

And now, as Boomer said, back to our original programming.....

Amen, I resist the impulse to trade up until I see the final product. That and I plan to keep mine till it either dies or becomes a classic. This is my first car payment that I've been under for 2 1/2 years, I don't care to repeat the process for a while. Kinda miss the old days where I only had to pay for insurance, gas, and a muffler every 2 years (upstate NY road salt).

That and theres still a lot of the car left to reveal by November. So far it looks good, but look how they made the Focus and the Five Hundred (Ok, Taurus) even worse. I have a certain amount of faith in Ford because they do their icon cars very well, i.e. the Mustang, the GT, the Shelby Cobra Concept, Shelby GR-1, but at the same time you can't be disappointed if you lower your expecations.

Now back to the discussion about the COWL hood...
I bet that things going to be a PITA to see over in a parking lot.

It actually kinda looks like that in the concept description profile drawing as well. It's pretty obvious Ford likes this look as they have put it on everything from the Flex to the F-150, but it has always been the headlights rather than the tail lights that have had that taper design to them. I have tried to look at every camo pic for a hint of this but they hid the outside lower portion of the tail lights too well. Maybe that's why.

As long as they change them in any way I will be happy. I think they are the weakest part of the current design.

I think it is a fake pic, I worked a Ford research and development for a few years and never saw anything labled like that in sharpie. I could be wrong but, I don't see why the word "Ford" would be needed when everything is ford. And everything had a code name, such as S197. Just my opinion...

My guess is this is an intentional leak by Ford to get the internet buzzing again. This picture leaked around the same time as the 2010Mustang.com site launched. Hmmm...
