F-150's 5.4 got upgraded to 320hp and 390ft/lbs. I think the same upgrades might carry over to the '10 Mustang's 4.6L until the 5.0 gets here.

Predicting 325hp and 340ft/lbs.

Possible, presuming the 5.0 follows Ford's typically "deliberate," i.e., slow and convoluted, development pace and is an '11 piece. If so, I wouldn't expect much development on the 4.6 then if it is a one year motor, probably pretty much a carryover from the current car with maybe a few minor FRRP parts for good measure.

I would tend to be somewhat skeptical that Ford would invest much effort in upgrading a soon-to-be-replaced powerplant. If anything they might carry over the gains they found in the Bullitt tune for 2010 Mustang GT's. I just can't see them doing this for a model year in transtition.

Since the technology has already been developed for the 5.4, it would be very easy to stick it on the 4.6 for 2010 as a stop gap until the 5.0 arrives.

I know i'm a little off topic here but why is Ford bringing out a new Mustang with an old engine? This kinda reminds me of 94' when the new, heavier Mustang debuted with slower 0-60 and 1/4 times than the Foxes they replaced I hope we don't see that again

Is it 100% certain that the 5.0 won't be in the 10' car? I guess it doesn't matter to me because I won't be in the market for a while but I think it's a bad idea. The new Mustang's image is gonna be tarnished from the get go by getting spanked by the more powerful Camaro and Challenger.

Frankly, I think the refresh should be synonymous with the new 5.0. If it means delaying the refresh's release a year so it can be released with the 5.0, I say so be it.
