2010 HEADLIGHT...Up Close
Nope... No for sale sign for me. I like the Pony I have just fine.
One thing I notice about the new headlamp/turnlamp arrangement... It's total opposite in theme than the 1970 model where the 70 has the dual horizontal vent theme to the outside, the 2010 suggests the divided vents positioned inboard as parkinglamps. If Ford's intent was to capture the essence of the 1970 model they should have at least made the same departure as they did in 1970 and put the vents to the outside and enclosed the headlamps within a wider grille. I always liked the 1970 face a lot.
Notice how the new turnlamps also use old fashioned non-clear lenses. Not realy attractive IMO.

i dont think im gonna like the 2010 stang too much...
they need the turn signal on the outside of the light if they want it to look retro...
once again they try to do the retro thing and settle for something halfass...
cervini's design looks better in my opinion

I don't know how the 05-09 standard lights are for night driving but maybe it's safety thing. Chrome would emit more light at night. And the way it is set up would make it pretty cool looking lit up at night time.
Sorry folks but I'm not digging it. Maybe if they use a clear lens and an amber bulb and lose the chrome??
So far nothing I've seen about the 2010 is giving me a warm and fuzzy. Tail lamps included.
Maybe the rumored engine choices could over come the bodywork but then again, the turbo V6 replacing the v-8 is another rumor out there.
Also in my opinion, the "G" type concepts almost make me hurl. So for now, I'm glad I have my '06.

Overall it's a very good almost literal translation of the classic body style without looking dated or resorting to too much ornate surfacing.
I'm going to tag along with what other have said in other threads. This car photographed here is probably representative of the "base" model. Look at the Pony right now. It has a ton of chrome on the front if you order the pony package, and as singular pieces I thought they looked terrible, especially when Brad had released just the spy photos of the chrome grill inserts.
These are test mules by the way, detailing like chrome grill surrounds and a pony in a chorrall to offset the "weight" of the chromed headlights will probably help to better balance the look of the vehicle.
Lastly, remember that this is just a "freshening" of the 05-09 design. This mustang is going to as "all new" as the current F-series Superduties were from their last iteration... just a different face with the same overall proportions, nothing major in the tooling. Plus I do agree with those before me who have said that it will grown on all of us. The 99-04 looked terrible IMO when it first came out, but it grew on me and now I consider that era to be one of the more attractive models since the late 60's early 70's.

It looks like the body / panel gaps around the headlight on the 2010 Mustang are VERY tight; if you look at the bottom of the current Mustang's headlight, you'll notice a fairly significant gap.
looks like the new lights will be a little shorter...or squintier....comparred to the current light..

The more and more I look at the headlights on the 2005 to 2009 headlights I think they were originally intended to be painted the same color as the car. Ford produced them all in black because painting the area to match the car was cost prohibitive. Just my opinion. Anyway. The slats in the headlights would stand out more if they were color coordinated with the car. Is there any way to take apart the headlight to paint black area a different color without destroying the headlights?
BTW- I don't care for the new headlights on the spy shots. The car photographed appears have the GT500 hood since there is mesh on the hood in that area to allow the motor to vent through the hood vents.
