2010 HEADLIGHT...Up Close
I just have a feeling in my gut that the next mustang is not going to appeal to me.
I like what I see personally, the reskin will compliment the '05 design. I think folks will definately know the car is different. Do you remember the 1st New Edge you saw? My thinking at the time was....Ford got it right! I feel a repeat of that sentiment coming again.
I think the new car is going to be awesome! and for all we know the production model will have some of the bucket painted black, or maybe chrome first year or 2 and then release teh good looking ones like they did on 99 and then 01.
Not sure about the headlight treatment, at least what we can see of it -- a glimpse, but not the whole effect -- but my initial reaction is a bit tepid. My trepidation falls mainly on that it looks a bit fussy and glitzy, overdone if you will, on the chrome/metal trim. The theme seems to be a bit of an interpretation, flipped horizontally, of the '70 front end. It appears, though, the fellow/committee who styled the current Focus Coupe failed upwards and has been put on the '10 redesign -- and has lost little affection for overly-ornate gingerbread.
But again, this is just a small glimpse and I'll hold out hope that the overall effect coheres far better than the aforementioned Focus Coupe, which is just a horrible pastiche of current stylistic cliches.
As for the rest, the grill area seems to be shaping up to be a slightly lower and more forward-thrusting version of the GT500, which I think is a great thing, thinking the GT500 pretty much nailed it on front end styling.
Of course the prototype strip tease will slowly go on, tantalizing us gape-mouthed enthusiasts with each little peak. I wonder when/if Ford will do what GM has done with the Camaro and just say what the heck and let it all hang out at some point -- might draw off some of the focus from the new Camaro and Challenger that are getting so much attention lately.

Though I SERIOUSLY doubt this will ever happen......but how many of you would like to see a return to the Coupe option VS the Fastback look they have now? I'm saying as an option, you know pick which one you'd want. I bring this up because every time I see a new convertible with it's top up, it reminds me of that old coupe look; and for some reason, I absolutely LOVE it. Anyways like I said, I doubt they would do that, you know for cost issues, but I for one would totally love to see it.
