H-pipe! Nice. Looks like they might have saved some weight by shaving some of that trunk girth.

Looks like same old same old. Panhard bar. Panhard bar brace. Sway bar. It looks identical.

The pictures were taken on Mustang Alley at the Woodward Dream Cruise . Ford had a 2010 there, heavily camouflaged. I came in late to the presentation but a bystander told me this was a V6 chassis. More knowledgeable folks than me can probably verify whether this is a V6 or not. I wondered because of the full dual exhaust.

I did hear the Ford Rep. say that the 2010 chassis while similar to the current model will be more “ sport tuned”. He said that the dampers and springs will be stiffer but still retain ride quality. He said that the V6 will be similar to the current GT, the GT will be similar to the current Bullitt etc.

He said the Mustang will have stability control. Everyone there was very nice and positive. The car was heavily camouflaged so it was hard to make out anything regarding the body.

The rep. also said they were considering a 19” wheel for the 2010 and that while it looked great the additional weight resulted in some ride quality issues. He said they have developed a new 18” wheel that gives much of the same look as the 19" wheel.

The car was on a rack that allowed it to be turned on it's side.

I have a feeling that, when the camo comes off, we'll be happy with the end result.

Is anyone else getting tired of Ford parading a camoflaged car around at shows and events? Just show us the damned thing already, especially since it doesn't look like it's going to be THAT different from the 05-09's

Wonder if its because its the v6 chassis... there's no watts link.
So they are either toying with us...or we aren't getting one... which would surprise me.

Nice. Personally, I feel the Bullitt has more in common with the GTs of old so I'm glad to hear the new GTs will share its improvements.

I'm surprised that more people aren't more excited about these underbelly pics. They are basically showing us 1/4 of the car...or at least one model. It's a shame that there isn't a clearer angle that shows the underneath of the engine so someone who is knowledgeable could possibly tell us what is in it.

Maybe there is someone on here who was there and got a clear look??????? ANYONE????

The one thing I can't figure out is how the last set of pics of the red V6 had single exhaust, but this one (which apparently is also a V6) has duals???? The tires don't look like they are big enough to be on a GT either. Unless there's a base 6, a performance 6 and a V8? That would be cool.

Can anyone else who is more familiar with the 05-09 decipher anything else of interest from the underside pics???

Lastly, it also looks like the body is going to wrap in tighter to the car and provide a much sleeker and smaller look which goes with what has been heard. Coooool.

We went back to the Ford Corporate display today. Mustang Alley was over but the Corporate display was still there.
We talked to a Ford representative who was familiar with the 2010 that was on Mustang Alley yesterday, he said it was a V8.
I should have asked yesterday. The rep. that was giving the 2010 chassis demonstration was very friendly and very knowledgeable.

someone else mentioned the focus mirrors. The mustang will have the focus foglights too or atleast a variation of the current ones.

Well I can tell you that the blue car looks pretty much the same from that angle. The same 2-piece driveshaft, same spring locations, same everything that I can see. And still using Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S tires.

The white car with the blue stripes looks like its using tubular lower control arms, COIL-OVER SHOCKS, a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft and a differential girdle (instead of the cheap stamped cover). Plus the mufflers look like glasspacks (like the SLP loudmouths). There's no H or X-pipe...which seems like a dumb move to me. I'm also seeing a racing fuel tank and a tow point. and no emissions piping. All that and the Ford Racing sticker on the bumper and I'd say the car is probably an FR500S or something to that effect.

Don't the black rockers suggest a V6? Or possibly a GT500 since it got a Dual Exhaust?

Kind of disappointed by two aspects….
  • The brakes look exactly the same. Maybe Ford changed the pad compound, but I was hoping for an overall better setup.
  • Suspension: Where is the Watts Link? Why is Ford still offering up narrow tires?
