2010 chip on passenger door, repaint time

Well, it appears as if some clown had to open their door into my passenger door causing it to go down pretty deep. Took it to body shop and they confirmed they think it was a door that hit me. Very odd spot, but in order for it to look right and me feel better, gonna get the whole door repainted. Will post pictures later today when I get home. Also will post pictures when its complete.

Just sucks ya know, I have some other little dings and can be touched up, but this is the worst one so wanted to to it right. Touch up wouldnt take out the dent even though the chip is small also.

Insurance will cover it, but under collision, $200 deductible plus chance of insurance going up, would take 5-7 for appraisal, or $300-$350 for the shop to do it within 3 days and not have an insurance hike.

So in the past two week, tree branch fell on my daily driver and smashed my windsheild (insurance covered), then my fridge died (compressor), and now this. Bad things happens in 3's right? So hopefully I am done for now.

wow that's quite the door ding.

Couldn't you try touching it up with a few layers of 'touch-up paint' to see if you can get it to look somewhat tolerable? Might be worth a shot at $10 as opposed to 300ish no?

I was going to have them do it, but that was gonna run me $150 and it had a dent that this picture didnt show, so that wouldnt be covered up.

I guess this is my one time **** retentive payment to get it back to way it looked when I got it. I took it to my buddies shop and he said basically the same thing, they can touch it up, it will never look like it did before and you will always know its there and in the sunlight will look bad. So, here we go for now. Also two warranty paint problems I am trying to get addressed, so we will see what happens with that from Ford.

Just wanted to give an update. Getting my passenger door repainted as we speak, but also, I brought up to paint problems I was concerned about. On the drivers door, had some weird bubble and white mark near the handle and also on the left strut tower, looked like they didnt finish painting. Ford approved it under warranty, so now I will have both doors repainted and the strut tower. So, the body shop at Ford did a good job of presenting my case to Ford, so another stress off my back.

Still angry about that assclown that nicked my car !

Bumping this up for a question...

Has anyone added side moldings, to help prevent this kind of damage from happening? I'm seriously considering it...

I know many people remove door moldings, but I want more of them! Heck- I'd add reactive armor if I could!

Hmmm... is there another Ford vehicle that might have matching Kona Blue door moldings? Maybe I could order it from Ford and cut it to fit?
