Yeah it's a pain in the *** to pop off, I actually broke the tabs on the back of my factory horse trying to get the washers off, but I figured no big deal since I was putting the black one on anyway.

I just used permanent black marker on my chrome horse. Came out looking like black chrome.

I did this swap a few months ago and go the part from Partscheap.com and would definitely buy from them again. The swap is a little annoying because of how tight those little friction washers are on the plastic posts. I ended up cutting the posts very close to the washers and the washers popped right off after that. I used some new friction washers I picked up from Lowes instead of the factory ones, I just couldn't get them back on without pulling the entire grille off the car and applying serious pressure to them.

Its a PITA! My fingers hurt for 2 days after putting those washers back on. I did get a tip from someone on here to use am 8mm socket to pound them back on......

Maybe I didn't spend as much money or time as you, but I think it looks pretty good for free.

It will probably look good for a while, but I for one would prefer something that will hold up to bugs/pressure washers/sunlight...

Agree with you. I'll admit the finish does mar a little over time, but touch-ups are a cinch. Plue if you ever want to go back to chrome, just use a little solvent. Plus I am too cheap.

I have the black pony as well. Its really not the bad as long as you dont mind destroying the old one. You can just break the tabs off the old emblem, pull the pressure washers off and apply them to the new emblem with a 8mm socket to help push them on.

Darn it, Steve... that is one hot shot there of your Stang! My Boss Splitter is on its way to Florida and should be here by the beginning of the week. Just have to get the CS fascia now... still shopping around for the best price... LMR has it, but $ 135 for shipping is a bit steep and actually can pick the part itself up cheaper at the local Ford dealership.

Maybe I'll just have it installed... saves me any potential PITA!

Did you check Varsity Ford? I paid $200 for mine without fogs.
