It's not a GT500. It's a 2010 GT that is being cloned into a 2013/14 GT500.

While I can appreciate all the work you have put into your car I still do not understand the logic of clone cars.
I can see borrowing styling elements from other models, like many people on this site have done. But recreating and representing a car as something it is not is beyond me. When someone says "Nice GT500!" how do you reply? What class would it be entered in a show? If you sell it how would you list it? Even if it has all the parts of a GT500 it will still never be one. It's a beautiful car...why not make it a little more unique?
Why not remove the GT500 badging
and make it a one of a kind special machine. Just my thoughts. ☺

I hear ya.

I think the OP responded to a similar inquiry in another thread (or maybe it was this thread). OP, correct me if I'm wrong.

But I believe he claims he's doing it for the "fun" of it...that he enjoys modding his cars that way. To each his own. But you're right, for me, I'd do it, but I wouldn't badge. That was my intent with my comment earlier. Why the badges when the engine is still a 4.6L V8? He says it's coming...which is fine, to which I respond, then just wait to put the badges (if you must badge - I think no Shelby badge is better) until then.

In the end, it's his car... so if he's happy with it, then I am too.

I appreciate your thoughts . I chose to build a GT500 and I am almost there. I will finish this project and probably never sell it anyways.
This is one of the reasons why i don't do build threads... They will just get derailed...

Unfortunately you cannot build a GT500. But merely clone one. As you are referring to your car as a "GT500" it looks like you're out to try to fool people into thinking it's a legit GT500. That's not cool.😞

I don't care if people think it's a GT500, V6 or GT. I only care that it will have 662hp, electronic dampers, trackapps, and all the other good stuff...
Bad for me I guess that I love the styling.

I don't understand why one would do this, but it's not my business to understand it. I say live and let live. As long as someone doesn't profit in any way by passing off a clone as the real deal, no harm, no foul. I don't see any difference when someone turns a 65/66 GT into a GT350 clone.

I've had this fantasy where I'd take a '12 or '13 convertible in the correct color, and turn it into a Boss 302 drop top....not really a clone, nor would it be a tribute, but a body style of a particular model that was never offered by the factory....i.e, a phantom. Street rodders build phantoms all the time.

But I'd get personalized plates like this if I were to clone a Shelby or a Boss:

Oh...now that's an idea!! Tribute cars can be cool. But clones...meh.

I'd say he's beyond the point of "clone." The only part that won't make his car a GT500 is the actual VIN. Essentially, he brought the assembly line to his home and built his own car. It would be even more impressive if he actually did the paint and wiring too. I've always wanted to take a modern car, completely take it apart, remove unneeded parts, fill all the engine bay holes, then rewire it the way *I* would wire it, with the wiring all tucked/tech-flexed/heatshrunk, and put it all back together better and cleaner than the factory did it. Then you would TRULY know your car inside and out.

This is from last Saturday. A local AAA office was having a member appreciation day and they asked my club to make it more special by having a small representation of about 20 cars.

Nice....I'm assuming that's yours, Chris. I don't recall seeing those wheels are your car before....when did you do them?

Thanks, Tom. It is. They were put on last month. I had the same wheels as you...still like them, but I wanted to "gray-out" my car because I love the color and the metallic finish. I also added the louvers and headlight splitters last month for more of the metallic gray look. It was a toss up between the 2013 GT500 style wheels and the AMR's. I went with the GT500's because I preferred the style, but also, they hid more of the brakes than the AMR's.

They look great against SGM. The SVT's are a great choice. What size tires are you running? Now you gotta drop it at least an inch.

I've been toying with the idea of new wheels...I like silver FRPP GT500's or Forgestars...same basic style. Might wait 'til next year when I can justify new tires....I only have 6300 miles now. I'd like to go 275/40/19's in all four corners.

Hello Sir, Please get OUT of my head

I had THIS written out EXACTLY as you said yesterday and cancelled my thread. It was one thing I wasn't going to get involved with.

I would say. who cares what he does. its his car. good for you if you have the capital to pull that off.

you know, if someone were trying to pull off a look like my car. Lets say, shave fenders and try to get that V6 appeal, i would be totally flattered hehehehehehe

I'm not trying to "pile it on", but I'm with you on this guys. It gets under my skin when people do this.
(I deleted a lot of what I wrote, just to be "nice". lol)

The lilacs are in full bloom. Gave her a good cleaning yesterday. Really needs a full detailing though. Just don't have enough time. I'd rather be out driving.

I dont like when people commit fraud with badging. That being said, if it will have a 5.8, or a 5.4 in there with a whipple then fine.

My whole thing comes down to money. You essentially spent thousands more to have a home made gt500 instead of just buying a real one brand new. I dont understand that but ok. Same thing when i see all these decked out v6 mustangs on instagram with extensive mods. Spending thousands and thousands to mod a v6 when you could have just got a GT to begin with

Yeah its a fun project, and it can be fun to do. The car may be looked at as a bit of a Frankenstein, but whatever i guess. The only thing that will separate the car is the vin. GT500's are not made any differently, or built with special care and precision compared to non GT500s. They have a different power-train (hand built) and a few other add ons here and there. If you dont believe me, watch the Nat Geo vid of mustang megafactories

All in all, i dont care, it looks nice, and if you hadnt said it was clone, i would have never known.
