2010-2014 Ford Mustang S-197 Gen II Lets see your latest Pics PHOTO GALLERY

Let's look at this from a practical standpoint: what kind of people needed their cars to be faster than everyone else's? You might suggest professional race car teams, and I'd tell you there are many, many people who need that speed more than race car drivers, and most of them are either police cars (how many red police cars have you seen? How many black ones?
) and moonshiners. What was the most popular color for a shine runner? Why, black of course.

I need to get pictures of these two cars together. Awesome, Lee.
My wife has several opinions on the car. One day she tells me she loves the red. The next day she tells me she thinks it would look "really evil" if I change the red to matte black striping, tint the fogs and headlights, etc. I tell her to take her meds and go make me a glass of tea. She responds by spraying me with her plant-watering bottle.

The day I got her...

I actually still miss my SGT. Loved that car. Blue is my favorite color, and the Vista with the silver stripes was one of my favorite cars. Didn't have the room to keep them both or I would have. Just couldn't justify the cost of building on to the house for no other reason than to store another toy car.

The only issue with doing something to the color is the clear bra I have installed over the entire front of the car. When I have to replace it, I may consider some other color options.

Ok, this is getting weird now. The SGT I had was an '08 Vista Blue with Silver stripes. I looked at the first picture of the Shelby and saw the blue one in the background and thought, "huh...that blue one behind it looks almost exactly like my old SGT..." Seriously, your old SGT and mine are exact mirror images of each other. And now we both have black Shelbys with red striping...I'm going to get in touch with your family and have them tell me the moment you die and what the cause was, so I can change my life before it happens to me!!! I understand two people having the same color cars consecutively, but the same color of the same type of limited-run vehicles??

Loved the handling and the feel of it, it just needed about 300 more horsepower, which I remedied with the black one.

I thought about the clear bra, but I was afraid of what would happen down the road since I plan to keep this one forever (well, I said the same thing about the last 2 S-197 cars I had, lol). Just was afraid of what it would do when it got beat up and needed to be removed and replaced in the future. I know it would take the stripes off, and that would mean replacing the whole kit to get them to match. With no more than I drive mine and only being a few times a year when the bugs are really bad or if I want to drive it on a road trip I got Colgan Custom to make me a traditional bra for it that I could just use when I needed it.
May not be for everyone, but I think it looks alright on a black car. Just put it on for the first time a couple weeks ago, needs some adjustment for a better fit. Waiting for it to get hotter so it will stretch easier.

I know its old school, but I've used them before on other Mustangs I've had and they've worked out well for me. I can throw it on when its needed, or take it off in 5 minutes and throw it in the trunk if I take it to a show or cruise-in.
I don't think it looks too bad on this particular car.

It was #817. That is without question the best car I've ever owned outside the GT500. I loved every single thing about it, the handling, the stance, the looks, the grille/hood pins, the wheels...it was the perfect car for me. Perfect.
And I sold it because it was more than I wanted to pay per month at the time. I will never, never forgive myself for that. If I had it now, I'd keep it along with the GT500. I may end up buying one later and rebuilding/restoring it, putting a Coyote 5.0 in it, etc.
I thought about going with a black bra, as it doesn't look too bad on yours. I know I'm going to be putting this on the track, and I wanted more protection than the standard bras offered so I had the 3M film placed over the entire front 1/3 of the car, all the way up to the windshield and the doors. Eventually, the stripes will have to be changed anyway since they're vinyl and will fade in color (especially the red). I'll pull everything off at that point and either replace the red or go with Yellow (my wife would KILL for a SBY Mustang) or possibly matte black. If I have my 'druthers, I'll replace them with red. I'm going to try and keep the GT500 as close to stock as I can, and that means the colors as well. Everything I've done to it so far can be undone, which is a requirement for any mods I do to the car.

I agree. I loved that freakin car, like you said, the hood pins, the color, the stance, etc. It was as close to the perfect Mustang as you could get, but being a typical man, I wanted "more power!!!!"" Heck, I even debated with the guys on here what to do, supercharge it, or get a 500. In the end, a 500 was the way to go, but like you, I would have kept that car in a heartbeat if I would have had a place to keep it inside (didn't have to worry about payments fortunately, I was lucky enough to pay cash for it, and the GT500 as well).
I understand where you're coming from with the 3M, but this bra works fine for me. I'm a skeptic and I have experience on other Mustangs with bras like these so I'll stick with them for now. Maybe someday when more info on the clear bras comes out I'll go that route, but for now I'm happy with this. Heck, if I drove the car a lot I might go for one, or if I didn't intend to keep the car for more than a few years I'd put one on it and let it be someone else's problem down the line, but right now this works for me.

Such a weird love affair I had with that car.

Great cars n this thread lately. I was thinking of putting some contrasting color on the silver stripes like the silver you put on the red. It makes them POP a little. I have been having a hard time trying to find some 1/4" stripes in the color I want though. I want a color close to GHIG metallic.
Also, 3M makes a liquid clear rubberized coating now like Plasti-Dip that you can peel off and it won't damage the stripes like the permanent bra would. I know that's what I would be using if I were back in the states. Here I would use it too but I don't want to pay $30 a can for it when I can get it in the states for less although 3M is made over here I think.

I loved it too. It took nothing at all to turn right at a stop sign and whip the back end out just a little bit. Sounded wonderful, felt wonderful...just a great car. Got gobs of attention in it. No, not as much as the GT500, but it was **** interesting to other people. Lots of Mustang drivers rolling their windows down, saying "what kinda Mustang is that?!" Just a wonderful car.
