That really does make sense, but I'm really hoping for the 5.0 to the base engine. I just convinced my wife to let me trade up for a 2011/12, but I don't know if she will go for it if it is going to be an SE (probably starting @ 34-35K + amds). I really, really doubt if it is an option, that it will be within $2000 dollars of the base price, or it will probably require many other options that will push it out of my price range. I would love a sub $30k 5.0, but don't see that happening if it isn't the base engine.

Seems like a line-up to me!

With Camaro shelling out 300HP with their V-6, I can't believe we won't see a healthier V-6 offering say in the 280-300hp range. With that said, sticking with having a 4.6L 315HP V-8 doesn't seem logical. Heavier, thirstier, and with only slightly better performance? I'd like to think the ENTRY (4.6L) for 2011 (if they still use the 4.6) would be closer to 350hp. 300-315-400 are some pretty weird gaps. 300-350-400-540 seems to make more sense to me, but who am I?

i don't think you need a V6 that puts out 300 HP in the V6; the duratec 3.5 with a CAI will easily put out 270, so then you will have:

270
315
400
540

that would do just fine

That would also make more sense than the 4.0...

That makes even more sense, given the investment made by Ford in the KR. Thanks!

Shelby has said he is back where he belongs...with Ford. "I never should have left" he said in an interview I am sure most of us saw the Shelby documentary. I don't think he will leave again. It might be badged as a SVT Cobra in the future though. Thats still ok with me.

I think Shelby is way too old to make another move. I see Ford keeping the GT500 alive as long as he is. Perhaps after his death Ford will re-introduce the SVT Cobra as the top level Mustang. Think about it when was the last time Shelby was this popular? I'm thinking the last time he was with Ford!
