what kept the 5.0 and the 3.5 from making it in time?
what kept the 5.0 and the 3.5 from making it in time?
I know that all the leaked info stated that it would be the same v6 and the bullitts v8, but i was still hopeful that they would be ready, and it was just a well kept secret. I love the 2010 design and its enhancements, but felt like it was a debacle on fords part to make sure it was ready in time.
So why didn't the 5.0and the 3.5 make it for 2010? What kept it from being ready in time for the redesign.

But the wait WILL be worth it
I would say as stated above and I've said in other posts....
The BOSS/Hurricane line was said to be in the Mustang 5.8 and/or 6.2 at one point,
and then was delegated to the truck only line, now SD/Raptor only.
The 5.0 decision was made long after the 2010 was already in the pipeline, and they are probably doing finishing testing on the engine this year.
So either A ) you delay the car and wait for the engine (which could push towards the later part of the year anyway.
or
B ) you bring out the car and utilize what you have and send the 5.0 through its paces and not rush it.
Ford chose B... and while many may complain.
I'd rather they do that, then rush the engine.
The 4.6 may live on for a bit, but the 5.0 is coming next year (could be some overlap)

I too would much rather them wait than rushing. Reduces the chances of recalls, or worse not haveing the power advertised. ie. 99 cobra. I just was wondering what caused the delay.
I agree with SugeKnight... that being said if ford is like other car makers they do a 5 year plan every year. It slightly changes and gets refined every year. I really don't think time had a lot to do with their decision to wait for other options. I also believe the 4.6 will still be used in other platforms for years to come...of course I could be wrong
Its like playing cards, you hold on to your best cards till last. I am sure money was also a reason too and maybe all the testing on the 5.0 isnt done yet. Ford will achieve good sales next year just based on its looks. Us Hardcore Mustang guys will jump in as the Horsepower goes up!
