2005-2010 Comparison
#61
Comparing the changes between a 69-70 would be equal to comparing a 05 GT to a 07 GT500(same basic car just a new bumper and some trim). I realize the 2010 is on the same platform as the 2005 but the changes to the 2010 are very drastic and not really an slight progression in styling. IMO, I can dig 75% of the car. However, no matter how many cool shots I see of the front and side, I still know that ugly rear end is there. I just hope the aftermarket has a "good" fix for it.
The GT and GT500 are almost identical, other than some very small details. They look like the same year vehicles. The 69 and 70 Mustangs both look like Mustangs, but the front and back styling are different enough that anyone can easily distinguish between them with just a glance. I don't think the 2010 styling changes are any more drastic than the 69 to 70 changes, in my opinion.

I appreciate the time and effort you put into your comparison pictures, but my opinion hasn't changed--the new 2010 lost the all-American look of the classic Mustangs in favor of a Euro version of the more modern Mustang. Yes, there is still a family resemblence, as there should be, but it definitely has a Euro flavor to it.

That's funny. The only real difference in the 69-70 are headlight buckets, no side scoopes on the qtr. panel of the 70(exact same panel as 69 boss 302) and the taillight "trim". "TRIM" not entire new sheet metal. Considering the 05 GT and 07 GT500 as almost identical and not the same about 69-70 is just ridiculous. Either way, it's not worth arguing over. The 2010 rear is horrible, plain and simple.

No matter how much I like the fox bodies. The simple fact is there is nothing "mustang" about them(besides V8s and cheap and easy car to mod). Hence the reason it says mustang on it at least four places on the outside. They could have very well called it an escort gt. Meaning based on styling alone, someone really could'nt say "hey that looks like a mustang". To me the best version of the fox was the 93 cobra, at least it had the pony in the grill. The mustang really didn't get back to it's roots until the 94 came along. Which is the first modern "retro" attempt at the original pony car. Also, I would say it is the best to date. In the fact that it has all the major styling points of it's heritage while not looking like a 64-70.

That's a good point. I wasn't thinking about the SVO. That was definitely a car that I could say had a bit more of a Euro look to it. Although I liked the SVO, the fact that it was set up more for handling and had a small turbo motor in it makes it a bit distanced from my idea of a true Mustang. I'm not saying the SVO wasn't a Mustang (we all know it was), but that it was a far cry from the traditional Mustangs as we all know them. That's why the SVO died after just a few years... nobody wanted to pay more for a Mustand with less straight line speed, even if it handled and stopped better.

I like the exterior revisions made to the Mustang for MY 2010 especially the "bulge" and cant of the hood, a-la
early 80's Aston Martin but I love the interior makeover, the Mustang finally has a cockpit befitting its iconic status. I realize that Jeremy Clarkson and co. at Top Gear and the like will remain disdainful of the Mustang and concept but I think Ford has done a masterful job of keeping the Mustang attainable and desirable. If I had the money I would not hesitate to order a 2010 GT!
