2005-2010 Comparison

That looks ALOT better. Too bad the curve is stamped into the quarter panel.. I wonder if an aftermarket fake side scoop would fix that part up..

The design is fine up to the rear quarter, I'm sorry, but the back end is HORRIBLE. That ***** in the lights and that shaved rear bumper just looks off. And I won't even get into all that black mess at the lower bumper.
However, the hips forward and the interior are to die for.

I like both designs, but the '05-'09s are very tempting considering you can get a brand new Premium GT 5 spd for under $23 now. I cant pull the trigger yet anyways, so we will see what I can afford next year.

I think there is much to be said in favor of the '05-'09 for its simplicity and classic design.
The '10 is much busier, front to rear, but given that Ford HAD to update the design, I think what they've done is very good, overall.
Except for the rear. While I can get used to the odd taillights, the oversized black undertray is just hideous. I really think they could have updated the rear, even using those taillights, and achieved a much more pleasing look.
Hello, aftermarket? What can you offer to fix this???
BTW, thanks for the excellent work in setting up these side-by-sides, TB.

Wow, that's an awesome picture of the Camaro concept. If I wasn't such a huge Mustang fan, I'd have to look hard and long at the Camaro instead. But I'm far too much of a Mustang guy to ever be caught dead in a Camaro.

I can't speak from experience, as I have yet to see a 2010 in person, but I have a feeling that the "black diaper" will look much less so in the real world. Looking at photos, especially the straight-on shots of the rear, you just can't get a sense of depth in two dimensions. It's just a guess, but I'd think that the areas of the "black diaper" that go inwards underneath the car (which is part of what makes the cladding look so "tall" in photos) won't be nearly as apparent.
Nevertheless, the more I see it, the more I like it.

I'm just concerned that if I bought one, I'd cringe every time I got a look at the rear. Or at best, think to myself something like, "What a beautiful car. Too bad they didn't do the rear end better, though...".

When i look at the Vette my eyes do not go to the black because it seems be incorporated better were on the Stang my eyes go to the black as it sticks out farther than the bumper. I think it would have looked better if the plastic did not have the lip or ridge and was flush with the bumper and was just smooth all the way down.

Looks much better integrated on the Vette. It's smooth (not multi-leveled like on the Mustang) and less obnoxious. Probably because of the wide cutout for the exhaust tips and the fact that they slapped the reverse lights on it. IMO, it's much less offending on the Vette, but it's still kinda lame. But like everyone says--the reason for it is to reduce the top-to-bottom dimension of the back end, making it appear wider.
