1st post with a rattle.....

Hi

I'm based in the UK and have recently bought a car with the Ford Duratec 3.7 V6 engine. The car is a brand new model in the UK and the engine, I'm told, is also quite rare in the UK. So there's not too much knowledge to draw on.

The engine has just covered 1,100 miles so is fairly new. From new it has had a top of the engine (near the front) rattle from 2,750rpm through to 4,000rpm. I've convinced myself that it's not a heat shield as I've stood by the engine and heard it at the top of the engine.

I'm sorry it's not a Mustang - but I had a Ford GT from new, so I do hope you'll overlook my lack of qualification to make a post and ask for your help!

Here's a pic of the car (bit hard to believe it has the 3.7 in there, but it does).

Any help or advice would be most welcome - thanks...

You must post at least 3 pics of the GT as penance for this crime of posting that car in a mustang forum.

Just kidding... But really, make with the GT

I won't bore you with 3 GT shots.... . Actually the car above is huge fun to drive... It's not American muscle, but it definitely has some under the hood.

I don't know much about the 3.7, but I'm sure there are some here who will.

I just love your car collection!

Is that an MG?? With the 3.7 in it? Hmm didn't know they were using those engines. Can you post a video of the noise? And welcome from across the pond!

It's a Morgan Roadster rather than an MG..... Made in the UK and I think the oldest privately owned car company in the world.... It's basically a brand new vintage car, the design hasn't changed much since the 40's. Great fun and now with added 'woof' because of the 3.7 V6. There is a bigger version with the BMW M5 engine, but I think it's too much power for a car that weighs roughly the same as a cigarette.

I doubt I can capture the sound.... I'll try.

Bah I meant Morgan. I always mix those two names up. Can you find out who handles the importing of that engine? They might be able to help you track down a CS rep in the US that can help you troubleshoot...
