18 x 9.5 Rims, What tire size?
Replacing the stock 17 x 7 rims and Michelin P215/65R17 tires on our 2011 V6 with 18 x 9.5 rims and ? what size tires? Where is a good site to calculate the correct tire size to maintain the correct diameter? Don't want to effect the speedo. Has anyone already been through this and know the correct size? Thanks

Those are the tall V6 tires, 28" tall.
A 275/45-18 will be closest at 27.7" tall and will make your speedometer read just slightly faster.
Here's the best calculator I have found: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

TireRack also has that size in Continental DW's for $100/ea - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ECDW&tab=Sizes

Absolutely! They are usually a $289/ea tire. I'd even be comfortable autocrossing in a street tire class on them. I run -2.7 camber and have 4k miles on mine so far. There is no visible wear whatsoever on the fronts or rears.

Barring an unusual wheel offset, there should be no problem with 275 in front. I've got 275-40 on 18x9.5 with 45mm offset. I had to oval-ize the brake ducting I had added a bit, but no worries.

A 9.5" wide wheel will properly support a 275 tire, any wider you should move on to a 10"+ width. I would go with a 275/40/18 at 26.65" tall, this would be your best bet. A 275/45/18 tire is to tall.....

I am running 275/40/18 on all four corners with 18x9.5" (GT500 take-off) wheels. The tires mount nicely on the wheels and I've never had any problems with the tires rubbing or uneven tire wear. I will stick with the same size for my next tire purchase.

Agreed, but a 295/30/18 Hoosier A6 is just fine with its stiff sidewall on a 9.5 wheel.

True, but the Mustang in its performance variants are running a 255/40/19 which are 27" tall as is the 285/35/19 for the LS and GT500, so the 275/35/18 at almost 26.7" tall isn't that far off. A 27.6" tire is just to tall IMHO for it to be performance oriented. I didn't know the base car had such a tall tire..yikes.
You never mentioned in your post about running a Hoosier R compound, even then Hoosier recommends a 10" wheel for a 295/40/18 for the A6. Will it fit, yes but it won't be optimal.
On my M3 I run a 285/30/19 out back as I am running a 19X10" wheel, but a 295 is pinched even though it is approved for this width.

This is good info. I'm looking to switch my OEM 19"x 8.5" nickel wheels for Steeda (or equal, with 45mm offset) 18" x 9.5" rims, on all four. I'd prefer to mount 275/45-18's, and that setup will be the very same OD as my OEM's at 27.7" tall ( 245/45-19).
- Question is, will that fitment work up front without any issues on a stock GT? ( I noticed you have suspension mods. )
Thanks,
TS
