WHY?

Why would you want to downgrade from the 17" to the 16"?

And even if they can fit what about the tire diameter? You should stay within 3% of the factory tire diameter. The diameter of the stock 17 inch tire is 27.6 inches.

To get close to that in a 16 inch wheel you're going to need a 215/65/R16, a tire that is closer to what you would find on a Corolla or Civic. 10mm less wide and more than half an inch taller sidewall than the factory tire.

I don't think the Mustang would look very good with tall, skinny tires on it.

Ahh, never used them myself, guess I should consider these things more. In that case the 215/65/r16 snow tire would be a good choice. Tall and skinny.

As for the fit... should be fine with the 05-09 wheels.

With my 18's I went to a super wide 17 combo for snow tires. Unless you get one heck of a deal I would stick with 17's.

That's why I live in Phoenix. Summer tires all year long. I'd gladly take 112 and sunny over 20 and snow any day if the week.

To add something constructive to the conversation... Its going to be tight. The front rotors are 13". 17" is probably about as small as you want to go. Keep scouring Craig's List and you should be able to find some.

Had planed using my 17 inch winter tires and rims off my mazda 6, same bolt pattern. But the center hole is just a little too small so looking for cheap fix. I did find 4 17 inch rims off a 2007 gt so I'll just remount my snow to them

Smaller rims will give you a better price on a snow tire.

My husbands 07' Monte Carlo SS has 18's for summer. He runs 17's for winter with a set of Bridgestone blizzaks.....that car will push snow!! Best snow tire around!

My 12' Avalanche will fly through snow at 70 with the blizzaks

If i were a 'yankee'........I mean, someone who lived up north, i would use a seperate winter tire with their own wheels. The blizzaks do have good reviews. We're lucky to get a couple inches of snow a year where i live.

Side note: I am a 'hillbilly'

Performance Package has the same brakes as a base Mustang V6, just different pads. Same brakes as 05-10 GT.

As to whether those wheels will fit, probably but the 05-10 V6 cars do have smaller front brakes so those will be the ones that you may need to be careful of.

Since the 2011+ uses the same front brake set up as the 2005-10 GT the 16" wheel won't fit. It only fits on the smaller front rotor found on the 2005-10 V6.

With the same rotor as the 2005-10 GT I still say that the stock 16" from 2005-10 won't fit without hitting the caliper. I would call these people and ask them if they guarantee a 16" will fit and if it doesn't if they will pay all costs to ship it back.

On Tirerack.com and Discount Tire they don't list a 16" wheel option for the 2009 GT or for the 2011 V6 by the way.

I have a pair of the stock 16" wheels if you want to try them out, selling them cheap. I used them on the back for drag radials and they fit fine there, but wouldn't fit on the front with the GT brakes on my 2006 (and no one else I know could get them to fit either)
