Angry 12v Black Hole

Hey guys. I have a 2013 GT. The cover to the 12v on the dash is missing. Ford says I need to replace the whole part which includes the Two vents on either side for $281.00. Other than stuffing a cigar in the whole, does anyone know where to get JUST the cover? Junk yards in my area unhelpful. Online also. Thanks in advance for your input.

Try a junk yard or Ebay. you could always install a push button start to cover the hole.

Just a though, but do you think the one from the '05-09 will work? The just push into the plug opening.

This little cap right here. A ton cheaper if it will fit.

It will not work on the newer cars. They have a square door that pivots at the top and opens upward. I cracked one of the ears off of mine a couple years ago and tried to buy the door. Like the OP said, Ford doesn't sell just the 12v receptacle door, just the whole dash panel with the vents for $250-$300. Luckily I still have mine and it still latches into place, but if you open it it falls off.

How did you break the door ? I use mine for my camera and now I'm worried about it.

You are right as rain my friend. My poor little brain saw the outlet in my F-150 while I was typing about the Mustang.

Sorry 'bout that surtec.

Same here. I have 3 Fords and a Lincoln and without looking it's hard to keep track of what's where.

Try the hardware section of lowes or home depot. They have specialty parts located in drawers, that include rubber and vinyl furniture parts. I've found square and round plugs for specialty applications. Take the measurements with you when you go. It's not OEM, but it may meet your need.
Good luck.

I was unplugging my radar detector and the plug fits really tight. I tugged pretty hard and hit the door on the way out and cracked off one of the mounting ears. If I open the door it falls off, but it stays in place when closed. I am not paying Ford almost $300 for a new panel with both center vents just to replace the broken door. Since Ford pays suppliers to sub assemble everything these days they do not stock individual parts, just the sub assemblies, which are quite expensive and contain more parts than you really need.
