12 years, still fun :)
Missed the car's 12th Bday on 12-17... its just sitting in the snow, waiting for spring, same as every other winter... did get around to putting 4.10 gears in this fall, just in time for the local track's last test/tune for the year, only got one run, 13.8 @ 99 first time in the 13's in ten years... stock it did a 13.78 @ 103, but every year began dropping...93 tune and mufflers got it back to 14.0 @ 100, but that was 3 ys ago, hadn't beat 99 since...the gears got it off the line easier with the taller 275-50-17 (29") tires and 60 foot time was 1.9, first ever...but shes getting a little tired, still cant get past 99.
Started autocrossing this year with my son, two driver cars don't get to cool between heats, and 'heat' is exactly what your brakes do we get 5-6 runs each, a mile/1.5 per circuit, so 10-15 miles of sheer abuse over about hour's time, man, what a rush the courses usually top out at 60-80 mph in the fastest spots, most of it though around 30-45, don't sound like much, but when the cars leaning/tires screaming, its fast next year they are hoping to do a 1/4 mile run, followed by the mile+ autocross loop, combining times- that's gonna be intense!
Anyways, the now 'old' mustang is holding up well, zero rust anywhere, really no mechanical issues except brake/clutch/tire wear...the 410s are causing wheelhop, looking at the rear bushings, no wonder...will be redoing bushings at all 4 corners this winter, maybe add some brake ducting... did have the leaks return one more time- a-pillar seals went bad again...this time cleaned everything up, put two strips of electrical tape on the paint(hopes that if ever needing removed, that will peel away) and reinstalled trim using 3m windoweld to make it permanently watertight this time...should the car ever need painted or anything, hopefully the tape will come away, as certain the 3m adhesive wont- the shape though will 'lock' the adhesive in place, so pretty confident it will never separate on its own. Also, had to change the carpet out... now that (2) cowl drains removed, (10) cowl cover clips are glued in place, and (2) a-pillar seals are solid, hoping the wet floor days are passed... still 'wanting' a blower, but just cant justify the cost, plus with near 90k on it, likely would be pushing luck.
anyways, still the best car ive ever owned, and still as fun to drive as the day we picked it up- oddly, still get the 'nice car' comments from kids love these cars!
