If you Notice that as you turn a corner in your 2005 Gt that it feels like the Posi is not releasing BE AWARE! There is a TSB on This Concern! But what you Should Know is That the Replacing Posi Unit Has Far Less Material on the Clutch Plates! So Before you Complain To your Servicing Ford Dealer About This and End Up with a Less Effective Posi Unit! :nono: Try Adding an Additional Bottle of Hypoid Additive to Your Rear Axle!
If adding this are you breaking any warrenty rules, and I'll gather there is a proper way to measure the amount of fluid that is supposed to be in there, then if that the case maybe the little robot builder is trying to save money or cheaps out ?

It comes in little bottles all dealerships should have it! No it should not cause a warranty issue! One bottle should do the trick!

I wouldn't add any more than one bottle, however... if you get too much fluid in the diff, you'll start damaging seals. But I so agree with the other statements... I'd rather have a tight rear end and put the addative in there than be given a loose rear end and wind up with one wheel spinnin' at the line.

Thanks sonic!

Yea my noises are just all over the place. My worst one is a drive train noise that sounds like a loose u joint. Basically if I do a sloppy shift where I get off the clutch first, then apply gas, I hear a clunk. I've driven stick now for about 19 years and never had that problem. took it into the dealer today, they say all normal. URRGH.

So I'll watch it. Right now there is no easy way to tell if the noise is front (tranny) middle (shaft) or rear. It's just under the car. Not too loud, but you know, once you hear it one time - it's always there.

Anyone with a stick - give that a try and let me know if you hear it. Accel, clutch in, shift gear, clutch out, pause, gas. clunk or no clunk?

I have had that same problem. Also when I am in first and I put in vthe clutch it makes the same noise.

I also noticed that clunk from time to time, but just figgured it was from a sloppy shift.

Hi KC,
Do you know if they are now building the cars with the light version you spoke about earlier, do you think that unit will be OK for some spirited driving and a holeshot here and there. I just got scheduled, so I am concerned what will be going in my car!!!

The Lighter Posi unit is only installed when the customer complains! Yours will be built with the tougher unit!

Hey Dave,

Mine was built 2/3/05 and the rear end is very tight and making the noise while turning at low speeds, like pulling into my driveway at home. So, as of 2/3/05, they were definitely still assembling them with the tighter (possibly tougher) units.

It's on the Front of the Diff on the Drivers side. A ratchet and a 3/8 extension should do the deed. It's a magnetic Pipe Plug.
