Hey Kevin:

One question I'm curious about >> does it say "Made in Japan" or "Made in China" on these units? Despite the fact that they're manufactured for Ford by Pioneer, I'm gonna guess it's the latter.

Should be able to connect your iPod using the single prong Aux jack in the center armrest console, fed from you iPod headphone output jack.

Those new iPod adaptor kits for the glovebox won't work with this particular NAV unit, however, at least not according to the statement in the accessories catalogue for the Edge (which employs the same NAV unit).

Factory Navigation System is now listed on the Ford of Canada website; you can build the car with the NAV option ($2300 CDN).

Still don't see it listed on the Ford.com website though.

Add me to the list of a potential buyer of the Factory Navigation Unit. I had a chance to check one out at the dealer this morning when I was having my car serviced, and after looking at the features and playing around with it I've decided to look into getting one for my car.

Some of the features that I like on the unit is satellite radio already installed in the sound system, 6 disk in dash CD player, and of course the navigation feature (I wasn't able to look at the navigation feature as you had to have the disc installed, but the demo screen/features looked great.

I've seen it in operation - it's pretty good. It also tells you ACTUAL street names, too, during turn-by-turn directions. So, not just "turn left at next intersection," or "turn left in 200 meters," but "turn left in 200 meters...Birch St."

Anyone have an idea whether or not this unit would support the Ford Mobile-Ease Bluetooth kit? Since we know its plug compatible with the Skipper 500, it ought to plug right in but I wonder if the unit would recognize it?

That's a great question.

I don't know. It's compatibility with Mobile-Ease is TBD, as is its full compatibility with iPods, vis-a-vis the Aux-in jack in the center armrest console.

Might I suggest that if it doesn't work, just get yourself one of those Bluetooth earpieces and dial your phone using pre-programmed numbers/voice commands (assuming your phone has that). Much simpler than trying to add a Ford accessory part that may require some dash disassembly later.

"Skipper 500" =

OK, according to the '07 Mustang ordering guide, the NAV system is most definitely NOT available with the Shaker 1000.

Correct, but this Does Not Apply to My Retrofit Units

Question

So has anyone installed one of these yet? How easy was it to install the antenna? What is the power output? Is it comparable to the Shaker 500? How about some pictures? I'm waiting to hear how it goes before jumping in.

I have installed and had no major problems with installation. I used the sat antenna from the 500 because it is less expensive and installed in under the dash pad with 2 way stick foam tape. As far as output I believe it to be even stronger than the shaker 500.

redmsgt,

Glad to hear your install went well. I saw you initially had some problems. How long did it take you? How would you compare the quality/use/features of your nav. unit with the Shaker 500? Any chance you could show us some pictures of it?

TIA

Just to let you know i am still experiencing the speed error code which has me late in position by about 75 -100 feet. Ford is apparently working on a fix for this .It is happing on Ford 500 as well but not every unit which is puzzling them. Other than that minor annoyance it is an awesome unit with so many features and is very easy to operate.I dont have any pics however it is the same unit that is used in most new F0RD and LINCOLN cars. Looks great in the dash and is aperfect fit.
