Factory MP3 plug-in for 07's. Kevin, can you help out?

Hey Kevin, I had a question for you. I asked my guys at my dealership, and they can't find anything, so I wanted to ask you. Since the '07's will be coming with an MP3 plug-in that goes into the rear of the radio, my question is this. Can this wire be purchased and plugged into the 2006 radio's. I can't find a diagram that shows this part, and was hoping you knew the part number for the wire that goes into the center console, as that is where the ordering guides tell us where you can plug in your Ipod. Can you help with this one. I do appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply tsaints, but its not the trip tunes system that I am after. The new cars will have a digital line in to the radio, not an FM Modulator that is hard wired to the antenna, and you have to turn the radio to a specific station. The Ford Edge will have the same thing, as will the 2007 F150's that have all CD radios. What I am looking for is the exact part that will be in the 2007 Mustangs. I have a feeling if you buy that part, it should fit into the radio, and work with the AUX button, hence making the IPod feed digital with no static. I am hoping Kevin can shed some light on this.

Thanks a ton Kevin! . I had my guys at work try to find that diagram, and no luck. Now, in the diagram, in that main wire harness, I can see the part c219, is that the other end of the input adapter wire that goes into the rear of the radio? Now I can have my guys order me the wire harness, and all I need to do is cut the wrap that holds them all together, and just plug into the radio. Thanks again Kevin, I really do appreciate it. This should be much cheaper than the PIE or the Periferal unit.

I apologize for my ignorance, but what type of cable does it take to connect the ipod(nano) to the line in jack? A cable with a male mini-jack on each end? Thanks.

No apologies necessary friend. Yeah, a male plug on each end is required. I got one of these with my clock radio, as it is Ipod friendly. It just isn't long enough to reach the socket and keep the Ipod ini the cupholder. I'm sure you can go out to your local Radio Shack, and find the one your looking for.

So all this does is allow you to play your Ipod though a hardwire setup, but not control it, correct?

Ipod Adapter Question

Guys,
I am a little confused with this thread.

I have an '06Gt that I would like to get the Aux port functioning for my Ipod.

Can you tell me what is required?.. Ford or other part numbers Is it just a harness to the radio? or is an interface unit, like the PIE required?

The wiring diagram would not "blow up" on my computer..

Please help?

Thanks
Chris

The wire thats on the picture that KC posted would cost way too much. The reason being, the aux wire is wrapped into the same loom as the power point. The bad thing, is the restraints control module also comes attached and this part controls all the safety items in the car. This part makes the loom cost well more than the PIE or Peripheral units would. So for now, the factory ipod connector on 2007's aren't able to be added easily. I am looking into taking apart another '07 we have, to get the part numbers off the plug on the radio, and console, and making my own, maybe.

You would be able to control you ipod normally would, using the click wheel. The difference between this and the FM modulator is that this is digital and no static.

Hey Chris. whats required to make this work is the wire that goes from the radio, to the center console plug hookup. In the console of 2007's is the female part of the plug. The only problem, like I mentioned above, is that the wire isn't available by itself. You have to buy the whole wire loom, and with that comes the restraint control module, which jacks up the price a whole heck of alot. If the loom only had the power point and the aux wire, the cost would be a lot less, and all you'd have to do, would be to cut the tape that holds it all together, and install it. There has to be a way to get this in our cars. I may be taking apart another '07 we have, and getting the part #'s of the 2 plugs, and making my own, maybe.

Please keep me posted on the Aux Audio hookup

Jeff,
Please keep me posted. I am interested in what you find.

I am intrested in installing this capability like the 07's with the same aux connection and location so that it looks like a factory install.

Can you email me the larger schematic that is in the thumbnail above?.. I cannot get it to enlarge.

Thanks
Chris

I'm curious about another thing: Anybody have any thoughts (or actually know) if that new iPod jack in the center console will also work with the Ford OEM NAV system that will be available late this year on the Stang?
