Whats everyones take on the Gen 2 Lightning?
I have always wanted one of these beasts since they came out. What is everyones take on these trucks? Pretty reliable? I am thinking of getting one around the end of the year to replace my ZX2 as my daily driver. Kind of thinking of looking for a 03 or an 04.

Unless it's a low miles, I would stay away from it. Most of Lightning owners drive their trucks pretty hard.
I would rather buy a brand new F-150 Regular Cab 4x2 with a 3.5 EcoBoost engine. It's the closest "Lightning" we're gonna get.

That would be nice, but you can't get a regular cab ecoboost, you could still get a 5 liter regular cab and would be almost as fun.

If you are gonna buy a high performance used vehicle, it's gonna be beat on a bit. Who cares? Part of the reason that SVT uses forged internals. There are no guarantees when you buy used but ford never made a truck as good looking or as fun as the lightning. Or just buy a raptor.

So you can get a ecoboost regular cab long bed.
But for a sport truck I was wanting a regular cab short bed which you can do with the 5.0.

Yes your right about that. I am going to be looking for a 03 or a 04. I am paranoid about the earlier production years due to the spark plug issues.
