I like it. But I do hate that we have yet another B segment car that needs 18" wheels to look reasonably proportioned. it's amazing to me that a 17" wheel and tire package can look absolutely massive on a 1968 Mustang but can only rate an adequate on a modern econobox.

IMO, the front fender line and the upswept character line to the rear deck kind of throw things off - it intersects with the front door handle and goes completely above the rear one. I find it odd.

Not bad, and a nice interior, but not nearly as nice as it's upcoming corporate cousin, the Ford Fiesta. The upswept side "character" line does look a bit awkward and discordant, kind of clashing with the implied line of the door handles rather than serving as a contrast. It, and the rather tall beltline, with the resultant warehouse wall effect of sheetmetal, tends to overwhelm the rear wheels a bit and raises the visual mass a bit much. I think dropping that character line to pass under the door handles and intersecting the bottom of the rear lights and bumper cut line would have worked much better. The rear end looks pretty good if again, a bit top heavy.

The front lacks a bit of sharpness, especially in the headlight forms.

Should be a very nice car overall and given Mazda's typically excellent suspension and dynamic tunings, be a hoot to drive. Wonder what a presumptive Mazda Speed 2 will be like?

+2

Very odd and disconcerting the way it runs through the front handle. Very wedge shaped because of this line.
