TwinForce Now EcoBoost

If the engines perform as good as expected I don't care if they call the engine(s) "Two Hairdryers", "Tandem Screws", or my favorite per Boomer "BunnyPower".

Now -this- is interesting, if you ask me:

V8's will stil exist, but they will be completely absent from FWD based (transverse mounted ) vehicles. V8's will still be there for trucks, Expedition, Mustang and future RWD cars. However, Ford will do its best to steer customers to the EcoBoost and TwinForce engines.

I don't believe that Ford has comitted to a 3.7L version of the TF let alone putting either a 3.5TF or 3.7TF in the Mustang.

But a 420hp TwinForce, TwinClutch, IRS and be-Brembo'ed Boss Mustang road racer could be very interesting indeed, a real M3 fighter for undoubtedly a whole lot less.

I think DI in whatever engine is clearly a technology of the future. While the Ecoboost/Twinforce may find a place in a Stang, there will of course always be a market for a V8. As to V8 DI potential, look no further than Audi which is pumping out 340 in the 4.2l S4 and some 420 hp in the R4, all naturally aspirated.
Hopefully, the rumored 5.0 Mod Motor, coming someday to the Mustang, will have DI. DI would make it capable of approaching 400 HP with the same or better MPG than today's 4.6 - 3V.
A TwinForce DI 5.0 would also out perform today's 5.4 SC GT-500 motor.
If the Mustang is still selling in numbers that can justify 4 engines, imagine this lineup in the next Stang, starting with a base V6 that will almost match today's GT in performance with 25% better gas mileage than today's V6.
3.5L V6 NA DI- DOHC - 290 HP
3.5L V6 DI EcoBoost - 350 HP
5.0 V8 NA DI 3V - 400 HP
5.0 V8 TwinForce DI DOHC - 500+ HP
