Things to come, Fairmont Wagon . .

Wanted to share my vision of a project I hope to begin within the next year or two. I've always had a love for wagons, and wanted to build/create a Fairmont/Zephyr wagon as a family/daily driver. I stumbled across the car pictured below last night on cardomain.com as I was scanning for Fairmont/Zephyr Wagons.

I plan for a 302/AOD combo with a 5-lug conversion along with other Fox body suspension/chassis mods. . .

Jason,

That's a fantastic idea... I'm sure if you look around, you can find a low-miles car that grandma drove to church for a song. Just looking around on my local forum, Fox stuff can be found locally for a very reasonable price.

In a similar vein, here's a link to a Taurus SHO wagon that was created by transplanting the Yamaha V6.

that's awesome! glad to see some serious wagon support from you guys. I've probably said it a million times on this forum, but i grew up on big ford wagons, camping trips and fishing and skiing and stuff. We had a... i dunno, 82? Grand Marquis wagon when i was five years old, backed into a lamp post once down in maine, the bumper fell off and we had to strap it to the roof, all of our american friends liked that one cause now the Canadian family was driving a moose car. Had an old crappy LTD wagon for a couple years, then stepped back up to an '88 Crown Vic wagon until maybe 5 years ago or something when we got a 91 Grand Marquis, its got the dual exhaust! It sounds like a beast, and was the first car i ever drove.
I can't wait till my dad finally gets a new car, and hopefully by then i'll have enough cash to buy the woody wagon off him and enough know-how to build my own V8-electric hybrid super wagon!
I'd probably put on some nicer lookin wheels on there, but other than that, gotta keep it the same, fake wood paneling and all!

Like the idea as well. Saw someone do something similar in one of the Mustang mags... except it was a 4-door sedan body with a 87-93 Mustang nose/fenders grafted on. Maybe you could try that route or try the "4-eye" approach. "Stangwagon" anyone?

Red Star (Zoran) and I talked about that particular LTD/Mustng conversion in a previous post. It is/was a very cool car. If I had the skill and money I'd love to fit a '86 Capri 5.0 front clip with Capri Fenders to a Fairmont, but that would be getting over my head.
