I've read the MT and C&D reviews and they aren't impressed, but reviews from individuals who have driven the Edge and MKX have been very favorable.

Can the Edge overcome the poor reviews?! I think it will hit Ford's target, but not sure if that's good enough . . .

I think the Edge will do better with the Rags when additional engine options and such come along (though maybe not, they dinged the CX-7 for not being good enough off road??). In the meantime, they seem far too ready to scorn it for not being the end-all-be-all without praising what it is. But the guy on the street seems to really like it, and right now that's key.

I drove one yesterday. Unfortunately it was a really short course with tight turns so I couldn't really get on it. It seemed pretty nice to me even though it took me three tries to realize it was actually running after I turned the key. It was so quiet and smooth that you couldn't tell it started up. I finally happened to see the tach move the third time I turned it over. I tapped the gas to make sure I wasn't just seeing things and it moved again and actually heard it rev up a little. I bet the people waiting in line thought I was some kinda moron who didn't know how to drive! It looks nice inside and out and handled the short course well enough that I plan on test driving one when they show up at the dealer.
