Ford's been testing Falcons in the US for awhile.
Australia will very likely be getting a next-gen Taurus-based car to take over the fullsize segment. Wescoent and Blue II have hinted a smaller RWD car, think 3-series sized, sharing engineering with the Next Mustang could show up.

they could have the taurus and the falcon, using the taurus as the more expensive luxurious one, and the falcon as the slightly cheaper sportier one - maybe even to replace the fusion sport - Think Nissan Altima/Maxima
The falcon here most likely will either the turbo 6 like in australia or use the new ecoboost 6. And possibly the coyote 5.0 for the high end performance versions, maybe with all-wheel drive and cylinder de-activation for better fuel economy. Very costly yes but necessary in todays market and economy. Not to mention the new CAFE standards to be set in the near future
