A problem with our Lincoln LS

The warning display on the dash keeps saying that the cabin filter needs to be changed. I tried clearing the warning message by following the instructions in the owner's manuel (you press "Status" and then press reset when the cabin filter warning comes up) but it doesn't clear it. Anyone have any ideas?

I think you press Status and the when cabin filter warning comes up, you have to press and hold the reset button to get it to go back to 100%, if I remember correctly. That happened the last time I changed the oil, it took me a few tries to get it to work. And this hasn't happened before that, even with the many times I've reset them over the years.

That's what I'm doing and it ignores the reset button. When I reset the oil warning, it works just fine.

I got some help from a Lincoln forum. When the warning about the cabin filter comes up, you have to press "Reset", release it and then quickly press it again. It will then clear the warning message. What I don't get is why it works differently than the oil change warning.

That's wierd. I've reset the cabin filter a few times before, but I don't remember it being different than the oil. I have to replace ours soon, so I'll be sure to make a note of what it does.
