Question Mustangs and Mercurys

I have a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis, with the v8 5.0 for engine in it, same as the mustangs. I'm wanting to up the horspower, but there aren't many options for an old Mercury. I was wondering, could I put a turbo or exhaust kit designed for a mustang onto my Mercury? Any thoughts on this subject or any related subject is most welcome.

I think rear gears would be one of the first things I would do. Beyond that bang for the buck is not there. How many miles are on it yes of course we want to see pictures.

Just build the motor. Aside from exhaust manifolds, pretty much anything that can bolt onto a Mustang can bolt onto that engine.

What do you mean by that? Stroker kit? Heads, cam, exhaust?

Analog odometer, how quaint.

I'd go with light engine work. An '87 Mercury-drop $5000 in engine work and you'll end up with a car still worth less than $5k. Now if you had a '03-'04 I could see more effort and bucks into it.
