Buy a Ford Performance vehicle, and from here on out you can expect it to be shod with Michelin rubber. The American automaker and the French tire company have announced a new partnership that will see the latter supply the shoes for all the former's performance vehicles and Ford's sports car racing program.
"We have a long relationship with Michelin, and could not ask for a better teammate to help extract maximum capability from our vehicles," Ford Performance director Dave Pericak said in the statement below. "That confidence extends from our upcoming racing effort at Le Mans in 2016 with the all-new Ford GT, to the Ford Performance vehicle lineup, including Shelby GT350 and F-150 Raptor."
This deal means Pilot tires for the Fiesta ST and Focus ST, Pilot Super Sport tires for the Shelby GT350, and Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for the Shelby GT350R and Ford GT.
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be fitted with All-Terrain T/A KO2 rubber supplied by Michelin's subsidiary BFGoodrich, and the new Focus RS will be equipped with standard Pilot Super Sport tires or optional Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. At the same time, the deal will also extend to the race track, where Michelin will supply the tires for the Ford GT racing program as it makes its way back to Le Mans.
