nice with an heir of cheap. its just the way it is. The piano black accents are nice in the fusion though. although i am sure they are as scratch resistant as an ipod

As others have stated, if competing companies can do it, why not Ford?

Dude, it's not nearly so much about the money as it is about the inefficiencies within the company that FORCE the money to go elsewhere, when it could go to more competitive materials quality at a competitive price.

Most people know it costs more money to build cars here than it does to build them outside this country and import them. Its called the UAW!! Why do you think Toyota just said that they aren't going to build more plants here in the US? Because it costs them too much money to make the cars here compared to back home in Japan. Their profits are better on cars that are imported, compared to being built here. Each car built by the big 3 cost on average $1500 to $2000 more compared to the foreign cars. Its called "Legacy costs". I can go on for a while, but won't. Plus, the bean counters in the past were the ones that put the kybosh on things. With Mr. Mulally in charge, we can see things changing already.

UAW keeps it up, ALL Big Three autos will be built in Mexico.
And isn't it funny that the Fusion has the highest overall quality rating in Ford's history...?

Most definitely needs the aluminum trim piece on the back and the white roof. Without that, it just looks kinda blah... Seems like the chrome trim around the bottom of the side window frames, and inserted into the side mirrors, has disappeared, too. Are those mules above not fully complete? Or is that the stripper base model?
The pics above just look boring. The below pic is what I hope they will be actually offering >>

Well they usually don't waste the time to put trim on or add stuff like painted bumpers to mules unless some aspect of it is being tested. Although I don't know if they are going to have a super-base model like an S/LX. I could see some commercial possibilities for it too. That thing is fargin huge.
As far as quality, I would say the new Taurus and the Edge are a bit better built then the fusion. The new Expy is pretty amazing too.

That could well be. I always found that when I pulled the door handles on the Mustang - and even the 500/Taurus - they felt fairly solid. When I pulled the door handles on the Fusion, they felt really flimsy by comparison.
