Kyles '64 Falcon Econoline Clubwagon Deluxe Project
Well I bolted my carb on and tried to start it...no dice, ran out and bought some new plugs and wires, while putting my new wires on I noticed the firing order wasn't correct, I installed the new plugs and wires and eureka it purrs like kitten, I also went for my first drive today...for six inches. That's as far as I want to go without brakes. But i guess the clutch and tranny work! Woot!

So I put my master cylinder on and got everything hooked up and bled the front brakes and everything was fine but I couldn't get any pressure to my rears, which is weird because all the lines get there pressure from the same place. After removing the T and blowing it out with air, I put it in and got a little pressure but still not enough. By this time I noticed that one of the front wheel cylinders was leaking. I replaced it. At this point I was getting fed up with drum brakes. So I got in it, started it up and drove it a block to meineke without brakes for them to replace the remaining three cylinders (just in case) and for them to pressure bleed the system. By the way it was a blast to drive and I couldn't get the smile off my face. Today was also the first day I got it up to operating temperature and my $60 dollar fab'd radiator worked just fine
Update: the shops pressure bleeder did the trick, the pedal is hard as a rock! I've got a bad front hub which unique to first gen econolines. I located one in north Carolina and it's in the mail now. It is a blast to drive! As much fun as my mustang just a different type. I put in and wired a new alternator/regulator. I also put in a new exhaust manifold gasket and fuel pump. As soon as my hub gets here it's road trip time! Woot!

I like it!
I remember the first time I saw a '64 Falcon van. I was floored that I'd never seen one even though I was about 17 and this was about 1988. I already had my '64 Falcon convertible by then so I was "well versed" about Falcons, or so I thought.
Here's "The Pelican" now with me at the wheel. Mom's cousin bought it new in late '63. Factory 260 V8 with 2 speed auto, now "Five Bolt" 289, Mickey Thompson cast steel scattershield, Toploader w/Hurst, 9" Posi, 4 wheel disks.

My buddy had a 64 falcon coupe and it's a looker! As is yours. I haven't really been updating this thread because I joined a vintage van forum where I've been interacting with folks there with van things. But its my new daily driver, and we just got back from a 1500 mile road/camping trip in it and had allot of fun. You can read about it and see more pictures here:
