I know i know, i kinda just posted a thread with the same title in the General Vehicle discussion area... not really sure which is more appropriate... I'm just trying to keep the Ford Exotics section alive!
So ya, automobile and motor trend both have the same comparisson this month. Here's the thread with a link to automobile's video which is sweet and some wallpapers:

Anyways, what a pleasant surprise on my way out the door to another hungover beating at school to find the issue of motor trend i've been waiting for since i heard of the new z06. They were like, first, the two that are actually in the same price range will duke it out. Then we'll see if the Ford GT is actual as good as the two others put together, cause that's what the price is.. Should i spoil it and tell you what they decided in the end? I dunno, i definitely didn't check the last paragraph before i read it as i usually do with comparisons i don't really care about, i wanted to keep the suspense. hahaha, automotive suspense literature...
here are some of their test numbers anyways. At first i thought it was looking pretty sweet, the first number i checked was 0-60. But other numbers weren't nearly as good for the GT. MT had various excuses for some of the spots where the GT was behind the two, like taller gearing made for bigger tracks than their tiny figure 8 test, and tire limited braking.....
okay, Vette:Viper:GT
0-60 3.8 :: 4.0 :: 3.4
0-100 7.6 :: 8.4 :: 7.5
1/4 11.6@126.6 :: 12.0@121.9 :: 11.5@128.7
60-0 100 :: 100 :: 114
Lat g's 1.01 :: 1.01 :: 0.96
Fig8 24.4 :: 24.3 :: 24.6
so ya, the GT's not that far ahead in straightline and pretty behind in braking and turning, that really surprised me.
What was sweet though was their little sidebar on a dyno test. The GT put out 535hp on the dyno. They use the standard 12% loss to figure the Z06 and viper were actually making about 530hp, while the GT's V8 "was pumping out at least 600 ponies." Hahaha, sweet!!

Those SRT boys better get workin on a hotter version of the Viper if they wanna keep ahead of the Vette. May i suggest 600hp? Actually, i guess theres that Blue Devil to worry about now... maybe... 700?
