Is this BS or solid info. It makes sense though.

That sounds like a valid reason to me if it's true. I can't wait to check out this car though.

Mike, that is total BS. The cars have for a fact started to ship to dealers late last week. Most dealers do not have any 2005 cars left. We have been out of Tauruses & Focuses for over a month, plus we only have 2 500's left, with one being a loaded AWD Limited. Most dealers are in the same boat as us, no '05 cars left. Believe me the Family Plan will have no bearing on the shipment of these cars. With the VERY positive early reviews this car has been geting, Ford wants to get these to customers ASAP. Plus, we have been getting customers stopping in, asking about when the car will be here. Everyone wants to see a Fusion. This car will go over VERY WELL, IMO. I too, can't wait to try one out. Hope this answer helps.

I figured it was BS but I saw a comercial before I read that thread that stated the family plan ended Oct 3 so it sorta made sense.

Thumbs up

On Thursday, if you accessed Forddirect.com, the Fusion as not on the list - but it was on the list yesterday. According to the web site, the cars are being given to dealers - but none have showed yet. Gaplhin Ford in LA is supposed to have five of them. Leith Ford, in Raleigh, NC is supposed to have one.

My '05 Focus gets 26 city and 32 highay. The 4 banger in the Fusion is supposed to get 23 city and 31 highway (the V6 gets 21 city, 29 highway). The '06 Civic gets 30 city and 40 highway.

I like the looks of the Fusion - but with gas mileage lower than a Focus, that's got to hurt sales. My Focus has a 4 spd auto - the Fusion a 6 spd auto.

With a six speed tranny, mileage ought to be better!

Hold on a second. The Fusion isn't replacing the Focus. It's a much bigger car than the Focus. They're not even in the same market segment. That's a ridiculous comparison.

T, unless the Focus you have is the ST, the motor in the Fusion is the 2.3L 4 cylinder, that has 160 hp. That is one of the reasons why the gas mileage is different that the Focus. The only motor in the Focus (excluding the ST, as it is a stick only), is the 2.0L DOHC 4-cylinder with only 136 hp. Also if you are looking at the 4 cylinder Fusion, the automatic that is available is a 5 speed auto, NOT the 6-speed. The 6-speed is only available with the V6 engine. That is one reason the gas mileage is a little less. Plus the car is MUCH bigger than the Focus, and weighs more than it. The Fusion competes with the Camry, and Accord, not the Civic. This car is a midsize. Hope this answers the economy issue.

Same here Jeff. The Tauruses and Focuses have been gone for a while here too. Are you going to the ride and drive in October (I think)?

Here's a good article about the Fusion on Autoweek.com:

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=103192

Notice it says that the launch has proceeded very smoothly and the cars starting shipping at the end of August but haven't yet started arriving at dealers.

Angry

:worship: After I posted my comments, I read someplace that the Fusion was actually bigger than the Japenese counterparts it will take on. I knew it wasn't replacing the Focus, but I didn't realize how big it was. My bad. With Ford stock selling (last week) at just under $10.00 per share, I want Ford to be successful. I like the looks - and hope others will as well.
It's nice to see others wanting the car to be a hit as well. :worship:

Hey Andy, I'll be there for sure. I always go to the Ride and Drives, the seminars, all the outside training classes. The R & D's are a blast!

My verdict?

Love it.......... The tail lights, not so cool. Everything else really cool. My salesman is like- well it has more HP than your Ellie......245 he says.

In negotiations to purchase one of them right now. Depending on the payment we may or may not have one very soon.

They do have more horsepower than your 05 V6 but not 245. They are rated at 221 HP.

They have less torque than your Mustang though, 205 compared to your Mustangs 240 so it will feel a little less snappy down low on the RPM range.

But the Fusion is a sedan after all and the 6-speed auto shifts so smoothly

Like em a lot.......REALLY a lot. Not the tan and silver I saw, but the car in general is NICE!
Problem I have is its a family car, and I had just enough time to think- MAN for that price I could have a second mustang.
