Ford Planning for Larger V-8's and Diesel 1/2 Tons
I originally saw this posted on GMI. A UAW press release is discussing Cleveland Engine Plants efforts to secure production of either a new 6.2L V-8, 4.4L diesel, or both. The 6.2L obviously smacks of Hurricane and a 4.4L turbo-diesel makes so much sense for a 1/2-ton it hurts. It would be nice if Ford added total engine dominance to it's already impressive dynamic edge it holds over several like offerings. I am referring to vehicles like the F-150, Mustang, etc..
Here are links to the GMI post and the UAW site.

Did anyone read the code word for the 6.2L on the UAW site?
This will be the same time that I am looking for a new car
One is a 6.2L block (boss) that has a volume potential of 350K
several future vehicles starting in 2009-2010. These future blocks will be in direct competition with our current modular blocks.

Its good to hear the hurricane motor, or some derivative of it is back
A diesel motor in a half-ton pickup would be a spectacular move given current gas prices. They will be in high demand. I have always said the 1/2 ton truck market needs a small diesel. Hopefully they will avoid the teething problems of the Powerstroke

Brad, Scothew, KC...anyone here who is more in tune with the smoke signals from Ford know anything about this? Some have pointed out that the date listed for the article says 2003, but every mention of a date within the article says 2006 and info within the article itself discusses the press release given earlier today and other news more recent than 2003, so the articles date is obviously a typo. But, that doesn't mean that this is all correct either.
Info please????
Info please????
6.2L = 374 - 375 cubic inches
but would be nice to have a gasoline V8 of that size in the ford line up
