Ford makes version of Transit Connect for the people

The Blue Oval has announced that it will produce a civilian version of its hardcore work van. Called the Transit Connect XLT Premium Wagon, the vehicle will boast roomy seating for five and massive amounts of cargo area. Out back, those hefty panes of glass actually pop open for easy-breathing ventilation, and tricks like blind-spot awareness and a rear-view camera makes piloting this beast of a machine a cinch. Other visual changes like larger alloy wheels, a painted grille and front foglamps give this Transit Connect a bit more personality, as well.

Interesting. We got a couple of these in at work (UPS) and they seem like a great utilitarian vehicle for work use, but I'm still undecided as to whether it translates over well to civilian use. I just wish they could have squeezed a 3rd row in there, or at least offered it as an option. I think it would look a little more acceptable in my eyes in a dark gray or black.

Thats because you'd want to be as low key as possible if you were driving it; You'd never hear the end of it if one of your friends saw you driving it.

Sad but true. Black does seem to hide a multitude of styling flaws, but I'm not sure it can hide enough in this case.

I think it needs to get better mpg too, as several minivans that are out there now which offer more seating capacity get better mpg than the Transit.

I like it! Seems like a low risk move by FMC to make one a little more 'daily driver' ready.

I think it's kinda neat. And of course, when the personal version does go on sales a version fitted with all the next gen Focus RS go fast bits is way too obvious.

I left this weekends Blues Club Fund raiser for the Food Bank, and was supposed to pick up a cd from a friend at a nearby restaurant/lounge. In the parking lot was a TC - surprised to see one in this smaller town.
