I would REALLY want to see this car. Hopefully, Ford will have something at the show in Detroit this January.

yeh i agree. i dont think they'll do a turbod 4cyl like the mazda. this is going to be fords main sedan, at least until they do something with the 500, like make not look like the plainest vehicle on wheels. so when they do the SVT version, they will have to make this thing kick some serious hiney. a turbo 3.0l V6 is just what they need, along with the other usual SVT treatments.

on a side not....what do you guys think its name will be.
Mustang: SVT Cobra Shelby GT500blah blah blah
Sport Trac: SVT Adrenaline
Fusion: SVT.......?

The base Fusion 3.0L has 221HP. Four more horspower does not a GT make. It would need to be 235+ IMO.

none of 'em need a V8 until they're moved to a RWD and not transversal-mounted or we'll have the same rep as the Grand Prix and Impala,
A V8 and AWD would be pretty freakin' cool in my book!

How about we just wait to see what will happen? This way we get high hopes, and then, well, its usually not something we expected (at least in my case).

But it's always fun to speculate!

True Mark, I like to speculate, but in most of my cases I was disappointed.
How is search for Escape going? Did you find any that you like it yet?

Ya i'm certain this GT is a separate car from the SVT. We had heard a long time ago that there'd be a car like this GT. They were calling it the Fusion ST, just like the focus ST, slightly sportier suspensions maybe a couple more ponies. My guess is the Fusion GT will be around 235 horsepower, while the SVT will be 'round about 300hp. Didn't they drop the SVT focus saying they wanted more of a crazy difference between regular cars and SVT. Using the stang as an example, the GT500 will have at least one and a half times the power of the mustang GT... if we use that as a ratio, that would put an SVT fusion at over 330hp! hahaha, i doubt that though, but hey maybe... then again, the Adrenaline is supposed to get about 400hp vs about 300hp for the regular V8 explorer. That ratio would put the SVT fusion at about 295hp, that sounds about right to me.

As for the name of the SVT fusion... I still say chernobyl would be great... Nuclear Fusion gone out of hands. Actually i guess chernobyl would be fission... okay so how about the SVT Fusion H-bomb?
Okay, lets try more politically correct... here's something different, something nuclear scientists have been striving for for decades... the SVT Cold Fusion. Kinda weird i guess, i think it's cool though.

Well, so far it's going well. The price is right. I just need to pull the trigger. I'm having a hard time letting go of my Mazda. Every time I drive it, I don't want to get it rid of it! :bang:

what if you waited for the edge which'll be based off the 6 platform? could you convince yourself that the edge has THE SOUL OF THE SIX? Hmmm, maybe not quite as sporty though eh?

I thought about that but that but I'm not sure I like the Edge. It looks too much like a station wagon or minivan and not enough like an SUV. That's my one complaint about the Freestyle as well.

Wait until is Mazda 6 is paid off and then buy Ford Escape.
That's what I did in my case with Mustang and F-150.

Part of the reason for buying an Escape is that when we had to evacuate for Hurricane Rita, we couldn't get enough stuff packed into my car. I really don't want to have to evacuate for another hurricane in my Mazda.

I just read where the 2008 Escape will be Mazda6-based. If I could wait until then, I'd have an Escape and a 6!

They haven't unveiled it yet. Production is due to begin sometime this year (probably now) and it'll be available next year.
