Sorry, but there's a tipping point at which cars just become too **** big for me to like, And the LTD was on the far side.

I suppose is, if you want a car that has styling from the 1980s and mechanicals from the 1960s.

Your on to something here, and it's more sweeping than you may realize. Australia has many of the same problems with their native Ford product that we do with ours. For all those clamoring for the Falcon to be imported over here the car has real problems in the Australian market. Fleet sales have been very high for years now and retail popularity has been in decline for some time. And all of these Falcon related problems are typically even worse when discussing the LTD and Fairlane.

Frankly, part of the reason we might see future US and Middle Eastern models based on these is because Ford is finding it ever more difficult to justify this kind of production in Australia soley for an Australian market that simply wont buy them in the numbers that they once did..

The Australian Falcon / Fairlane are based off the 1960 US Falcon. Yes they've been updated many times but their roots go back 57 years.

jsaylor is 100% correct. The Ford Aussie cars are very crude, flawed, and hoplessly out of date. They would be total flops if they were brought to the US.
