First Ford sedan I have REALLY liked . . . in a while
that is correct, or if i buy used i can get an '06 with a v6 and a 6 speed. however i would prefer the 4 cylinder since the current style and last style finally began coming with the dohc k-series engine. If i bought an 08 4cylinder accord, i have 190hp and a half decent torque curve... for a honda engine.
yes i am big mustang guy, but i have tons of respect for honda's
this fusion is a very nice car, i do like the wheels a bit, but its still not enough to win me over. and besides i cant get a v6 manual fusion either.

For what it's worth I am not stating that the Fusion is the greatest car in the world or even it's segment and I like the 5-Speed/Fusion we own. The point I was trying to make was that the SE Sport Package Fusion was a pretty cool overall package that appealed to me far greater than recent Ford cars, especially for the price. (The 2004 4-Door SVT Focus being the last.)
The Honda Accord, in my opinion, is the best overall car between the Fusion, Camry, and Accord. The Camry, in my opinion, reminds me of a late '80s Oldsmobile in ride and comfort, but it is a great car. The next generation Fusion needs to equal or excel greater than these two competitors in many areas and I believe it will.

How would you compare them?
I saw a 2006 Mercury Montego Premier w/ 28,000 miles for $12,000 yesterday and I should've probably bought that car (+ extended warranty) instead of Fusion.
Fusion is about the same size as the last generation Taurus (which is my daily driver) and to me is the perfect size for a sedan. I love driving the Fusion. With the 5-Speed, 5th gear could stand to be geared a little higher because I do agree that it can be buzzy at highway speed especially coming from the Mach or Taurus.
