Wow, At first I thought this was likely a chop, but now I'm not so sure. This has a very upscale appearance with the only the headlights looking a bit out of place to me. They fit the design of the car, but they don't look very 'Ford' and even have a bit of a Pacific Rim feel about them to be honest. Overall if the new Taurus looks like this nobody can blame the appearance for soft sales anymore. in fact, if Ford offers this with AWD and the Twin-Force/Ecoboost 3.5L V6 at some point I can't imagine picking the undoubtedly far more expensive Lincoln MKS over this. However, it would be nice if they would ditch the Taurus name. Last I checked Galaxie was sitting quietly on a shelf somewhere and is much, much cooler than Taurus.

. . . . WOW . . . .that looks pretty darn sharp!! Looking at it more, and reading some other comments it does look a little 'bland', but in a good way. FMC was burned once (twice) on a Taurus redesign so I am not so sure they want an IN YOUR FACE styling exercise again. For me this is the 'coolest' of the bland mid/full size car market. . . . . if the '10 Taurus looks like this and cost stay relative to current pricing I will put it back on my list.

Looks WAY better than whats out now.
I'd totally hit that if it was an AWD SHO (3.5TT)
And if that is the mustang in the background...its way too blurry to even see any detail in the clay.

I see that too, but one of the Mondeo like items on this car has me wondering if this is real. Take a gander at those side repeaters/indicators and ask yourself when was the last time you saw an American car for sale in North America wearing the same? Worth mentioning is that, if you were to use the Mondeo's flanks in a chop those side repeaters would be there unless you removed them. Not saying this isn't real, but it is food for thought.

If Ford wants to get back it's market share, they'll need to do whatever it takes to be competitive- even if it means making it look like a Camry. Besides, the Asian design influence doesn't have the stigma it once had.

Must be something to this pic as Ford seems to be frothing at the mouth to expunge it from cyberspace (yeah, good luck on that now!).
As for car itself, eh, kinda allright, nothing really wrong with it, though that sort of insipidness has been the hallmark of other Ford NA's sedans of late. Looks like an unsophisticated melding of the superb Euro design themes with the more lunchbucket American themes but ends up neither fish nor fowl in the end. So again, while not horrible in the guise of the current Focus coupe, neither is it a groundbreaker like the original Taurus was and something Ford desperately needs to pull itself out of the weeds.
My suggestion would be to go full bore with the Euro theme for a more exciting, interesting and cohesive design that will also relate more fully with the upcoming Fiesta and redesigned Focus. But given Ford's giveaway panic reaction to this pic, i.e., it must be darned close to the real thing, its probably too far along the development cycle to change it much now anyway.
