the upshot is a stunt driver was transporting the car to the set and lost control and ran off a cliff into a lake destroying the car.

Luckily, that DBS wasn't the only one used for filming as some people reported earlier. It was on its way to a press conference and wasn't even one of the filming cars. Its all right here:
