5.0 in the F-150. Yes or No?
My friend is looking into getting a new F-150 to replace his beat up '94. But won't get one if it doesn't have the new 5.0. So is it a done deal that it will get the 5.0 or not? Raptor is out of the question due to price.

I would think we won't see it until the 2011MY or 2012MY, But I have no real clue.
However, if you option the 5.4 the right way with say the 3.55 rear gears and the 6AT it has quite a but of grunt and is nothing like the old 5.4/4AT combo.
I found the 4AT behind the 5.4 to leave you almost trying to will the truck forward and getting onto the highway was sometimes a joke if pulling a heavy trailer. Not with the 3.55's and the 6AT, it pulls & pulls & pulls. Right up to 80mph with out even breathing hard.

I don't think that AWD is avaliable anymore on the F-150. I believe it was only on the "Limited" models in 08-09.

i think its available on the 2010 HD F150s. my dads current 07 HD F150 is AWD, i know that for sure. its got the 3.73s, N/A 5.4, and 4 speed auto...it might be just me but i think it pulls pretty good.

I believe this to be correct. Not sure what tune the 5 liter will have in the the 150 but I suspect it will be lower on hp than the Mustang. Torque curve may be different also? We will have to wait and see. It will be better than the 5.4 for sure. I have never been a big fan of those engines. I suspect it will at least match the power of the 5.4 and get the mileage of the 4.6. Just my guess of course.

On my 2006 F150 I had 4x4 with the 5.4L and 3.73's and MPG was about 12 at best.
Plus it wasn't a particularly fast truck either with the 310 or hp that the 5.4 put out.

I assume they change the cam for the F150 because the same engine (4.6 or 5.4) will drop HP but have hella torque compared to those engines in a Mustang.
PS: who would want AWD? Why have the engine/mileage drag from driving the front axle in the summer on dry pavement?
