Unfortunately I live in CA - you can't buy a used car from out of state unless it has less than 7,500 miles. How retarded is that? Even if it was a 50 state/CA emissions equipped car when new.

Tell me about it. If only I could get my entire family to go with me...I wouldn't mind Arizona, Texas, maybe Washington state...pretty much anywhere but here.

 

I have seen dozens of earlier model RS cars here in Germany. They zipped past me last summer when I went to the Ring and waved usually. I have always loved them. I would buy one in a heartbeat after a couple of years though. I won't buy new again. Really awesome car. I really like where Ford is headed with the new product line.

 

What if you move to Ca from another state? Do you have to buy new cars when you get there?

 

CA has those crazy emissions policies so you may not be able to register it over there.

 

No, CA has the strictest emissions laws, so other states would gladly welcome a car with "CA emissions" compliance labels. A lot of other liberal leaning states are actually following CA's path in that regards, including Washington state where I bought my car, but CA STILL made me smog it even though it was brand new and it stated "CA emissions, 50-state legal" on my blasted window sticker...

Oh sorry, I did misread that. Yes, you can bring your cars with you. That's why it's so stupid. I remember there are still certain requirements though.

 

I heard at the time they were badly prone to rollovers. My wife had a Ranger (well, the Mazda version) and I wanted to trade it for the Sport Trac. She said no because of the rollover issue. Never followed up though, could be false or could be specific years or configurations.
