Precisely. The Mondeo is almost certainly the best overall car in it's segment even when looked at a from a worldwide perspective. (although, it must be said that the French have an interesting entry now too which apparently brings a genuinely Lexus LS like ride to the segment, but the downside of course is that it's still French.....anybody care to guess what it is?) The problem is that the Mondeo is that good for a reason...Ford spent a lot of money engineering the car and they spend a lot of money building the car.
If the goal of Ford is to maintain profit margin then you are spot on the money...no way could this car sticker for a price anything like the Fusions. A much better comparison would be the the Accord or, even better, the Passat. If the Mondeo were sold here as is I'd guess it would be a 22k car to start, which means it would make a perfect Mercury but might be pushing it as a Ford......just my two cents on the subject.

I sure hope thats a bunch of red tape around the real taillights that make them look so huge. Mirrors are almost identical the mustangs.
Ride height around the wheels looks very tight, which is a good thing.
The grill looks way to big and if its done in chrome that might just be way way to much chrome.

Looks like AutoCosmos' rendering is spot-on. It's actually a pretty bada$$-looking car!

looks pretty good...It looses a bit of its identity changing the headlights like that though
Looks good......I just hope the biggest changes happen to the interior of the car. All of that coupled with good engine options and high fuel economy will likely to win over a lot of new customers.

Side profile is virtually identical as current Fusion.
Is the interior getting a revamp at all?

Yeah, I remember seeing pics somewhere on the Internet of a new Fusion test mule's interior. While not too dissimilar to the current Fusion's design, it did, as you stated, feature a HUGE nav screen; the materials look to be of higher quality, too.

Still falls short of the segment leader's interior, though (Honda Accord) >>
Personally i like the look of that fusions over that accord picture.
The accords is not perfect, with the screen so deep and high i bet my wife could barly see the screen since she is only 4'11" maybe 5'.
