OK so I get home after a long hot day of work. The in laws are here yay. Well long story short mom in law backs onto bullitt can't figure out why car wont go an keeps giving gas. Its right above driver side rear tire. Crumpled an messed up curve. Are these panels bullitt specific? I feel like I read that somewhere. Pics tmrw. Help,opinions, donations accepted

 

As far as I can remember from when I had my bullitt the rear quarter panels aren't bullitt specific. Just the C pillars. But, I'll let a bullitthead confirm.


Had a similar story. Some drunk guy backed into the Mach 1 I had. Hit it at the driver-side front fender right behind the front fender-well. I didn't find out until the next morning.....tho I know who it was because I matched the marks on my fender to his bumper(Mid 90's Chevy 1500 Z-71). Of course, he didn't have any insurance or a tag......probably without a driver's license too.... feelsbadman.jpg. At least yours wasn't a hit-and-run!

They are not Bullitt specific. They are, however, part of the unibody which makes them tough to repair.

 

Would it be better to repair it an try.. to get it straight or just replace the whole panel..new paint etc..

 

we would be able to give you a better idea if you can post a pic of the damage

 

A pic would be awesome. Cuz if it really aint that bad then repairing it will be the way to go BUT if it is crushed in pretty deep then replacing the whole quarter panel will be the best bet. I know that you can find brand new OEM quarters fairly cheap these days just cant remember where due to not be really active in the auto body scene lately.

If you know of a shop that can "PDR" (paintless dent removal) as much of the panel as they can, then properly use body filler, then go that route...

If they screw up, it's easier to fix the repaired body work than it is to cut and re-weld the entire fender panel....

 

If you do end up needin a new fender just check out american muscle or laye model restoaration. They no doubt carry replacement parts slong with tons of other goodies (:

Night pics just took them but you get the point. The body line that arcs over the rear wheel is bent harshly too. Had a few people say its doubtful to straighten it out

 

if you could get to it, I'd say a good metal guy could get it right, but it's more likely far easier to just replace it. That section isn't bullitt specific, I dont believe

 

I'm planning on claiming it on insurance and taking it to a place around here that specializes in older hotrods then maybe they can cut that square out an do a half decent job at welding a new one in place. They did good work on my dads 62 Thunderbird
